I'm excited as this will be my first race. Do any of the veterans have tips/advice for new racers?

- AoE-damage is king! Explosive Arrow, Frost Nova, Cleave and Ground Slam are king in most situations!

- Survival is not as important, if you can keep the enemies dieing fast to your high damage.

- Keep lower than or equal to the level of monsters you are fighting: It will make you gain xp faster.

Something very important to know in that regard, from 0.9.3 dev diary:

"
...The penalty for playing off level is also different. The first thing to understand is that we have allowed a wide band of no penalty. So when calculating the effective difference between a Player Level and the Monster Level, we allow a band of 2 + 1 per 8 complete Player Levels.

So a level 24 character has a safe band of 5 levels. So from Monster level 19 to 29, there is an effective level difference of 0. At Monster Levels 18 and 30, the Effective level difference is 1.

If you can help it, never get outside of this level interval!

- When you are leveling, be aware that The Ledge in act 1, Felllruin Shrine and to some extend the Waterfall Caves/pyramid in act 2 are the absolute best places to level. Keep to the low side of the levels when reaching those areas and catch up in level by farming (Farming: go kill as many monsters as you can get easily in those areas, go to an attached area ctrl+click the entrance to the farmingarea and choose to create a new area.

- If you can avoid it: Never use the sideareas. It is not worth it!

Edit: Oh forgot: Have a premade build for the passive skills. It is probably one of the most important things at the top top level, but it is not 100 % set what is best for each character.
I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :)

Jonathan and Chris are off to a good start and are battling with IMDisappoint for the lead!

Jonathan and Chris are both witches, so it is natural but well done by the developers so far!

But what class are they playing? : )
IRON MAN
Welp I ended up dieing. 1:08 into the match at lvl 15 was ranked 8th and running through crossroads. I was a spark witch.

A speedy mob appeared out out of nowhere and then all of a sudden they have FRENZY charges now! My life instantly went down to 1/4. I ran away only to die while running away. Not sure if it was lag or lack of equipment. It happened all too fast though it was a good match.

I had the worst luck with drops AGAIN! I ended up going to the shop twice traded in all portal scrolls twice for id scrolls. Did not find a wand with over 10% spell dmg :P...

I should have went templar again it seems the templars are going SLOWWWW again. I would restart but I got a pizza to make :)
GL to the survivors!
