Translation

I'll help with my native and professional translator skills to translate into GERMAN.

In addition, almost 9 yrs in high grade English help me to see the best meaning of word connections so if any further help is needed, contact me :)

Welcome

I'm from Poland and I would like to support GGG for Polish Translation.
Like it was said before, the game should be translated itself but without items (in every language).
I just can't imagine trading between English user and Polish user for a "Pazury Behemota" or "Zbroja Nieskończoności" :P
Hehe

It was nicely done in d3 - whatever someone posted on chat and trade in their own language you could see in your own. So if you posted on chat an item in polish, someone having the game set for English saw the English name and description.
How hard can it be to make it work this way?

I remember my fling with a translated version of Diablo 2. It lasted for about a day and was a pretty painful experience.

First of all, all the randomized names of items and monsters turned out laughable. There were also some more or less obvious mistakes like one text string for damage type was mixed with another, looked like simple CAT mistake that was quickly fixed.

Still some people prefer to play in their native language, mostly just because they don't know English well enough or at all.

And it wasn't the translators fault. (technically, it was, yeah, if you can afford to dick around translating one game for half of year, coming up with creative workarounds for each problem, and sometimes rewriting all the text from scratch... you get the picture)
Yeah, most of the stuff was unavoidable, because that's how the game was coded.

That's why translations should be conducted by the players themselves, preferably with some experience in translation or otherwise - cause they care and they will try to make it as good as possible.
Polish translation, though i would still play in english. I speak english at intermediate level as i have 3 yers experience of translating at amateur level(polish scanlation group - over 680 chapters of manga). I'm not proffesional. My english is good enough to read books with ocassionaly looking up at english dictionary.
I could help a little.

Of course some important words should be in english. There will be no polish only leagues - unless someone creates one. So gems names, keystones, names of gear should be in english.
As they are important to understanding each other.

Examples: [ice spear], [pain attunement], [sage wand]. Of course description should be in translated language.

With regard to translation, we've actually already had offers from fans (who happen to be professional translators) who want to help out with localisation to specific regions. We'll try to get a good coverage of languages, but our main development focus up until beta is getting a good gaming experience created. We'll handle translation after that.

What languages would you guys like to see support for?

Polish - it is possible?

I don't think I've seen a partially translated aRPG before. Names should be translated as well, so that the players understands. Communication between players will be fine, even when all names are translated people use english abbreviations for most - and for these there can be a forum thread, as there is one in D3 forums for the polish community.
I would love to contribute to the french translation, if you need some help.

My french is flawless, and i have a solid understanding of english :)

well for me i think like kimon.

the translation of the objects name is not a good solution because when a player play in is language, he will not look for the english version and so will not be able to talk in chat without other players that are not in is language.
take league of legend for example, many french play the game in english because like this they can understand the name of the items other player will talk about, but when a french player who play in french is told to buy an aegis for example, he will not understand what item he is told to buy cause in french aegis is translate to egide de la legion. and if he is not in the english forum he will never have heard of this aegis think ;)

think that many players dont necessarily understand and speak english fluently, but have just some basics.

its like me, acually i played this game but dont even understand something like 50% of what i see ^^ and its not because of the name of the objects just because the description texts are not in my native language and i dont have enought knowledge of english to understand all of what is writed when playing. (but when i have the time to read of write i will understand ^^)

that's why i think just letting the items name (and statistics and other think that we can share like the ability) in english but translate all other description is for me the best way to translate this game.

After looking in the path of exil files, it seem the translation of all the description will be easly done since its in txt file but the quest and other stuff are in .dat file so its more difficult to see what can be translate :p

since its open beta i think dev should tell us what they are planning for translation, the detail if its for user to do or if they will do it when they want? because if we need to wait that they do we will just wait ^^ (but if its by the players we can start already even before we know how to implemented it ^^)

good day to all :)
soory for my bad english guys :)
Spanish plzzzz!!
Congratulations for the game is incredible!
