Donald Trump and US politics
" I don't think it's that simple. For example gerrymandering and voter registration laws affect black people a lot, and it's a thing done a lot by republicans, so while they aren't exploiting black people their policies have a lot of impact on black people. I'm not sure if the same can be said about democrats when it comes to white people. |

" I wouldn't say surely isn't a factor. I wouldn't even rule it out as a factor. I would say it certainly could be a factor, but isn't the only factor. I would like to see the intervening video between the start of the violence and the beating to determine if they just started clubbing him once he was down without *further* provocation. It seems to be that way, but might not be. I think if someone went back carefully through the video, they might be able to tell if the people attacking him were using racial slurs or not - which would lend credence or create some doubt on motivation. " Both sides try to rewrite districts to give themselves easy wins. Our silly courts have decided this is a perfectly valid thing to do. The only exceptions are some southern states that are pre-empted by law because they were doing it, and are presumed to be doing it to intentionally disenfranchise black voters. Aligning districts based on race is common and disgusting, no matter how the proponents spin it. " I was talking about xavderion, he is the one arguing that saying that the guy was beaten because he was black is "reaching". About the racial slurs, the use of it could enforce the idea that the attack was racially motivated, but the lack of it doesn't really dismiss that idea. Those guys are still wearing racist symbols all over on a racist rally, in this situation the possibility of race being a factor is still on the table. It's not impossible that it could also be something else, but ultimately only the perpetrators can know what drove them into doing it. We can only speculate. " Yes both sides do it, although last time I checked Republicans benefited more from it(they received less votes but got more seats). It wouldn't be a racial thing if black voters were split 50/50 between parties, but they are split 87/7. So when republicans do gerrymandering they are impacting black people a lot more than democrats impacting white people when they do gerrymandering, since white people are divided 54% republican and 39% democrat. " The fault doesn't lies with the political party but the people. It is the people that govern. What is the point of voting if your votes doesn't count and doesn't help you? The people need to overturn this "Winner-take-all" system for a more fair representation system. Why is gerrymandering even possible? The majority that win get to dictate rules that goes against the best interest of the minorities. The majority want to keep things this way and minorities just let them. |

" Yes. The religion of peace. The same people loony liberals want us to take in as refugees. Yeah, lets fight for all these progressive policies, just so we can import tons of people in who don't share those values, and prefer a system developed in 700AD. MAKES PERFECT SENSE. |

" It's kinda the opposite of the electoral college isn't it, high populated areas are worth proportionally less and that forces politicians to woo less populated areas. But with gerrymandering and the concentration of minorities on one party only, it makes it easier to dismiss the minority. |

" Why is highly populated areas worth less? It is nonsense. Politicians basically place more power into a smaller section of the population to overrule a larger majority. It is letting a smaller minority disproportionately gain more power and granting the politicians they favored more power. We called that cheating. |
