Hacked Accounts
I disagree with the hatred that is coming towards GGG because of this.
I posted something on this regard, giving my support towards GGG and this great game. Anyone interested in reading it: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/199780 Thanks.
What really baffles me is that everyone seems to be hacked at the same time COINCIDENTLY to when they put a HACKED ACCOUNTS and THEFT thread. I've been playing games for 15 years and never have I been hacked in those years. GGG blames users faults but I beg to differ. To those who haven't been hacked you are lucky and should feel grand, the locking system should put a halt to this.

" As of this morning, count me among the lucky ones. All my orbs are gone. My pass was rather on the weak side, but otherwise my machine is 100% secure. I don't use 3rd party addons for any game at all. I have clean surfing habits and I'm not the kind of guy who falls for phishing. This is also a first for me(compromised account), and I have so many accounts across so many online games I don't even keep track anymore. |

I wonder what percentage of customers lose interest in PoE and quit after getting hacked, probably a fairly significant amount.

I've been targeted this weekend and i can assure you that i haven't downloaded nor went to hack websites in any way. I don't know where it came from but just saying that not only ''Hackers'' are getting targeted!!!
Luckily , GGG acted fast enough that i didn't lose a single orb//item (from what i can see atm) Last edited by Kaustah on Feb 26, 2013, 7:44:08 PM

" I am unfortunetly one of those souls. Today, I checked my mail to see that my PoE account has been comprimised. I quickly logg on to see what has happend, and to my shock, all my ores, worthwhile gear and gems have been stolen of my hardcore character. Not only was this enough for the son of a bitch who hacked me, but he also decided to kill off my character. I recieved a mail today from support after contacting them and explaining what happend, and all I got was the big finger basicly. I know you seem to be understaffed, but this is beyond ridicilous. Don't give me some crap about you or Kripparian would have been hacked if it wasn't a security issue by GGG. You can easily trace who the hell stole my items and killed of my characer, ban him, give me back my items, and give me the information so I can pursue this matter further with the authorities. There is your retarded dilemma about how the market would be "broken" if everyone got their orbs back. I have been playing online games for ten years, and not ONCE have I been hacked. Runescape, Tibia, Diablo, WoW, Tera, Guild Wars 2, heck even my Steam account, not one of these have been comprimised, both before and after some kind of authenticator or a more serious security feature was added. Yet, in two weeks I've played this game, I've gotten hacked. Sad part is, you logg in with your mail adress, yet there is nothing in my character name that indicates anything like my mail adress, nor is my mail adress something I give out lightly to anyone (which btw, none of the mentioned games use except WoW, Diablo and GW2, yet not even a hint has been made about those beeing hacked, and I can tell you that the characters worth of my WoW and Diablo account would be worth getting one of those shitty diamond titles). After I started playing this game, I was honestly ashamed I didn't donate to you early for a game that has a great feature, but I had never heard of PoE until it went open beta. Tonight, I am glad I didn't (even though I am really regretting buying extra stash to "donate" somehow). Today GGG, you've lost a player who will only look back at this game with regret and shame that he actually decided to give such a random publisher a chance. I will never again recommend Path of Exile nor GGG to anyone I know, and I will make sure to have people stay away from you as a publisher. I'll probably get some sad failure of a fanboy who complains on my post, but say whatever you want about Blizzard, but they sure as hell know what customer service and fairness means.
So the locking system is grand and all as they cannot get in to the game. The downside is there is no "retrieve password" button on the website and I am only logged in because I didnt log out of the forums. Whomever tried to logging to my account also tried to change the email and DID change the password already. Therefor I am unable to use the password change as I do not know the current password.
i cannot login to the game and I am stuck with fear that someone is using the store. I rarely buy anything on games but I really like POE and recently purchased bank tabs. Why cant I click a button and have a randomly generated password sent to my email? my in game is not at risk because of the measures but your store is web based and I do not have access to change my password. Just simply waiting on an email reply from GGG to help me.... Feeling a little at risk here.
" there is a link to it in the game on the logon screen iirc IGN:_TheHeffNerr_ IGN:_TheHeffNerr IGN:_The_Heff_Nerr_

" You can just logout from your forum account first and then use the "lost my password" option. As for the hacks, I too have just recently got an e-mail saying that I logged from "Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China" (notice there's another one from this area before?). Pretty much the same deal with everyone else, I used a unique password (not that I have much else to use a password on) and I can pretty much say that my system's fine. What hasn't been mentioned, however, is that prior to this e-mail (confirming that someone did get my password), I recently got several of the "You tried to log on from a different place" on the game. At first I did get suspicious of a tried brute-force attack and changed my password, but it kept happening and I brushed it aside (as there's nothing else I could do, as well as my guess that it's my ISP giving me different IP addresses). But then this happened. As far as I can see, nothing got stolen or anything, but I'll keep being suspicious. I just changed my password from a completely different machine and guaranteed safe, so I guess I'll know if it happened again.
Hi to all,
Someone in "Jangzhou, Jiangsu, China" (how rare) tried to access my account tonight. GGG security system worked perfectly: my account was locked but I could access it and changed the password just to be safe. All my stuff is still there, no issue at all. These last implemented account login limitations are great. Keep the good work, GGG, Krarsht |
