Hacked Accounts

Something needs to be done!

I have had my account hacked multiple times!
i have been changing my password 3-4 times a day. The game will soon be unplayable at this rate. I have a password over 40 char with random numbers/letters/signs/upper/lower whatever.
Its nice that POE notices the attempt and locks them out but im still being booted out of the game and being forced to change passwords.

If you didn't just log in from a new location, then someone else has your account password! You should change it immediately which can be done on our website.

The security was obviously breached. (Which I do not bother to discuss)

Thankfully it's just a game and I got a neat mail with instructions on how to unlock my account. I'm very happy with that.

yeah thats right, i don´t typically play from Shaoxing, zhejiang, china....

so a few days ago when all this started i was going to make a post of how people that got "hacked" should suit themself.
I played WoW for about 8 years with a easy password. Bought an authenticator when lots of ppl started getting their accounts hacked but i never installed or used it. Hell i never even used some form of antivirus or security program for those 8 years and never once did i get in trouble.

But after playing PoE for a short while, with a new computer and updated security programs. Not once surfed for PoE related sites. only visiting mail, poe site and local newssite, and then this happen.....
My password for PoE was rather simple but not used for anything else.

Very glad GGG got this new unlock system as i got to keep my chars and orbs but makes me rather scared of having something happen again and i feel for all those who really lost their stuff already.

You guys' emails say where the log in attempt comes from? I was at a LAN this weekend and I had to to unlock but it did not say where the log in came from.

I have never been "hacked" or had any security issues with any other game i have ever played. I dont visit cheat sites, i dont give out my password, i dont use the same email / password for any game i play.

I am thankful GGG put in the IP check, otherwise my items would be gone and i likely wouldnt look at this game again. I would love the ability to add an authenticator to this game like FFXI / WoW and other popular games.


I wont say that GGG has been compromised, but since this has literally never happened to me in any other game, and i know i have literally done nothing that could lead to me being keylogged, phising sites etc, it makes you wonder what is really going on.

im still curious why my account was locked.. AFTER they stole my entire tab of barter items...

This is also something I would like to know, it's pretty much like wiping after putting on shit-stained underwear.
