Death Penalties
The penalties are just retarded. Sad, that this game has the same stupid fanboys like D3. "Oh everything about the game is fine, JUST EVERYTHING"
Its not, Death penalty is just retarded. Grinding for hours and then lose everything to a lag/desync/fking imba rare mob. Yes please. Gimme more Difficult game is different from a unfair game. poes lategame is unfair. enough said. Neurotypicals are the worst thing this planet ever experienced.

Death penalties are fine till u reached 75 or more actually level 78 is the first barrier where its getting annoying cause at that level 66 map full clearance gives u only %4 or less. I hit that barrier hard with my 2 hander(leap slam for aoe) mara and decided to open new char cause there is no way to playing both safe and progress at the same with melee.
So basically u need cool friends for map partying and progress through 80's due to death penalties and known issues(dysnc, dcs and such). End game isnt solo friendly. | |
Have to agree here.
The death penalties are overly harsh at high levels. I also play a melee marauder and it's so infuriating losing hours of exp grinding just because you die to some random bug. Mainly rubber-banding or lag. The rubber banding especially is terrible. For a melee character who relies on life leech its so annoying not being able to accurately tell where you are hitting. It happens most commonly when you use leap slam, or a monster moves (lollll). So yeah i've had many deaths that i'd consider were simply down to bugs with the game/class and didn't enjoy the loss of exp. I think it's just pointless really. My thoughts, as short as possible, as they were detailed in other topics:
- death penalty is necessary. - Wraeclast PoE is a completely virtual world; the death penalty should not translate in real life, we need to keep in mind at all times, this is a game, made for people so they can enjoy themselves; why as I saying this? Well: - TIME is the most valuable currency we had IRL; most jobs pay you per time, for example. Time NEVER returns. - a reasonable amount of lost time on death should be fine; I've seen people arguing for 10 minutes to 1 hour or so. My opinion is maybe 20 minutes or so, at most. A few hours, or even days, are out of question. - the penalty should be fair for any level inside a given difficulty; a level 80 should not suffer more than a level 65. Higher levels mean more dedication to PoE, which should be rewarded, not penalised. Thanks for taking the time to read this post... placeholder for creative sig Last edited by Undon3 on Feb 17, 2013, 10:45:18 AM

I understand that they need a way to penalize death so that players don't go rushing a boss or rare mob.
But having a mechanic to penalize a mob rush that can be bypass renders it useless. You don't want me to rush a boss? I'll just level up and at the beginning of my level, I'll RUSH IT ANYWAY! So tell me, why is this broken mechanic still there? If the player have a hard time going forward, you reward him with a loss of xp? GGG absolutely needs to find an alternative to this broken mechanic. I absolutely understand the need for a mechanic that stop rushes and penalize death but this is not the one. -XP Dept up to half or a full level -HP/MP DMG/Def Debuff for an amount of time These are only 2 suggestions that could easily replace the bypassable XP loss mechanic. I keep throwing money at my screen but I still can't get my private league. :'(

There needs to be a death penalty...after they fix the serious desyncing issues with abilities such as flicker strike and whirling blades.
