"Hello.
POE is my first game which I actually discovered before its final release and started contributing in the community. I signed up here month ago (plus few days). Was very excited from the beggining. Everything looked cool, I've studied almost every topic on this forum, watched every video, enjoyed every new screenshot. Later on, GGG anounced the alpha. We, people of this community, were told that the more active we are, the bigger our chances are. During short period of time I posted about 70+ posts- not spam, some ideas, some oppinions etc. I didn't get an alpha invitation. I was sad but okey- thats their decision, maybe I was too "young" on this forum to be taken into consideration And now, we have beta... This is, or probably WOULD BE, my first beta ever as I've never paid attention how the creation process looks like. And I got one word to describe what's really happening here: BULLSHIT! And how I see the best way to get to the beta by now? - register on the forum but don't give a shit whats really goin on in the community; ure going to be chosen anyway - do not participate on forum discussions, do not visit the site, do not post anything- try not giving a fuck at all. You still have bigger chances to be beta tester than people who are actually interested in getting it - make multiple accounts, It's perfectly legal! And of course it's okay- u're just clever. Do not consider yourself a douchebag, cheater or whatever. Thank you GGG. Have learned a lot from this beta process. If I ever take part in a beta again, I will certainly get it using these rules." The invites are still going out, chin up yo |

Any chances he had of a key are likely gone now.

You could just wait till the game goes open beta or live. I have done many beta's. This is normal stuff to expect. You are just in hurry and want it now. You feel left out since others are playing. It is very normal feelings but raging about it is pointless. If venting makes you feel better I guess do it but still going to have no effect on what you want.

" I would respectfully disagree. I've beta tested a lot of games over the last 15 years, and what I've found for the most part is that with random invites you get a lot of people who are looking for something to play and don't want to wait or pay for it, and look at beta as free game time... There is a reason why it is called beta Testing. You need people who will actually test the stuff that you need, and who will give you sufficient feedback for you to work from. I've seen people submit bugs like "I crash while crafting". That is not sufficient. I've also seen people drop out when Devs asked them to test X and they were supposed to just do that over and over for the whole play session, maybe with variations to see if they can break it. Random invite is fine for stress testing, but for actual QC, you need to take people with certain qualities: -Literacy(its amazing how low that is) -Maturity -Dedication What do I mean by literacy? well, take a bug report. A good one would be something like this(for wizard101, as an example) "Gardening - Bypassing grid limitation while placing earth plots Normal Behaviour: Earth plots cannot be placed closer together than the grid allows. there is a minimum buffer space around each plot. Behaviour when bug occurs: Earth plots can be placed close enough together than they overlap. Steps to replicate bug: Place earth plot While animation is occurring, switch to the garden items tab and start clicking on garden gnome repeatedly. When the animation ends, the garden gnome will be on your cursor. Place the gnome next to existing plot, and the earth plot animation will re-trigger centered on the gnome and create a usable plot" I've been in something like 40 beta tests and I can count the number of beta testers I considered decent in random draft betas on one hand... Selected betas are another matter. |

Random
proceeding, made, or occurring without definite aim, reason, or pattern: the random selection of numbers. Statistics . of or characterizing a process of selection in which each item of a set has an equal probability of being chosen. All you were told is that you'll have just a slightly higher chance of getting into beta. The majority of the forum users are 0 posters... so what do ya expect? |
|
Except the ratio of never logging in person with 0 posts vs. the semi active person that logged in recently and has <0 post must be 100:1 or more.
Therefore if you have a 10 times greater chance to get in you're still outnumbered 10:1 against people that aren't active. Really makes me wonder if they increased the invites because their selection process really isn't getting enough active people to test. |
