Leveling Recommendation
Disclaimer This build is slow and not very strong while leveling. It only begins to shine at level 80+ and with a fivelink. You'll have to push through if you wanna reach the bosskiller state! If you're leveling a VP build you gotta change some details.
Level as 'Hybrid', utilizing both life and energyshield nodes, and respec to CI when you can equip the Infernal Mantle around level 65.
VP Example Progression
Step 1 Rush to the nice Keystones EO and MOM
Step 2 Go to Templar and Scion areas; normal lab Step 3 Shadow area; cruel lab Step 4 Grab curse and more es nodes, remove MoM when equipping IM; merciless lab Step 5 Respec into CI Step 6 Grabbing all that sweet damage; endgame lab Optional: You can go for the Mana node behind MOM at any point during leveling. As everything should be dead quick enough to not need the increased skill effect duration, I suggest to skip the Potency of Will node for it. Thanks a lot naxrea!
ZO Example Progression
Level as Scorching Ray - Cast when channeling - Firestorm in a + level of Fire gems item or as regular selfcast Firestormer (Firestorm - Controlled Destruction - Elemental Focus - Spell Echo) until you got a fivelink (or Tabula Rasa) and your Consuming Dark ready (at lvl 53), but do not activte any auras yet! Mind over Matter is your best friend in Normal and Cruel ;) Beginner friendy and very detailed information about Firestorm mechanics and playstyle can be found in Appels_Zijn_Gezond's Cheap Firestorm Build. When you fulfil the requirements switch to Wither - Cast when Channeling - Firestorm - Elemental Focus - Controlled Destruction/Conc Effect. At level 65 when you can equip the Infernal Mantle remove the Mind Over Matter keystone and turn on Discipline and Arctic Armour auras. Should you not have a leveled Enligten gem yet spec into the small 4% reduced mana reserved note opposite of CI. Keep Wither at level 3, where it still has minimal mana cost. Yeah thanks! I finally found the mistake, now the guide looks presentable again :)
_____ There is no real "better" in PoE. This build is insanely tanky at the cost of cleaspeed. You have to decide yourself if you prefer that to a "normal" version. ______ Well you have to weight the amulet slot (up to 50 flat es, 22% inc es and 1.5% regen, etc...) against those 7 nodes that are directly accessible and are also provide secondary benefits/are used for travelling. Everyone can decide for themselves how they handle stun. With less cast speed I also can't reach the maximum Wither stacks anymore, you'd have to compensate with castspeed elsewhere. is cast speed/cast speed on jewels important for this build or not? (never played CwC, not really familiar with the mechanics).

Levelling in LSC atm and as expected levelling is not that fast. Lvl54 and grabbing all the nodes for the final build. Switched to CWC firestorm now in a 4L but found that my levelled wither is getting mana expensive. I'm levelling it so I can use the gcp recipe when it's level 20. I tried blight as it's super cheap even when levelled and this works like a dream. If you want to level safely with sustainable mana cost (can keep channeling forever) it's worth a try.
So, as 4L I am now using Blight - CWC - Firestorm - Concentrated effect. Blight slows down mobs a LOT. To be extra safe I picked up a blasphemy with temp chains and it's hilarious seeing a group of melee mobs come at you in slow motion.It makes targetting the firestorm easier. Blight also appears to work fine ranged so this will help me get through cruel and merc for sure. You don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.

@johnny Or you could just level a second Wither in your offhand for the gcp recipe... :)

That's true :). Idea was that since I'm not switched to doing chaos damage anyway but did switch to CWC I just need the cheapest skill and blight really is cheap mana wise. The added bonus of blight's slow in combination with temp chains and chill from arctic armor really makes levelling quite safe. As soon as I get my hands on an infernal mantle and the consuming dark(s) I will switch to wither. It was just for everyone trying this build to consider blight as a levelling option. It does a bit of damage, debuffs and is super cheap in mana.

hi, my gf is playing this build but she does pretty much 0 damage atm (tier 1 map)
