Suggestion: Skill Tree Markup, Planning, and Summarization

Include profiles and save/load functionality. Possible uses: comparing different builds quickly, comparing builds across different characters, making the same build on multiple realms, or (the biggest) rerolling your hardcore character... again.

I would be sad if I could put it on auto. Manual is much better since I do not plan a build beforehand. At the same time auto-assign is really removing a lot of the strenght of the huge tree - The diversity. People who want cookie-cutter builds will choose the same paths anyway.

As for the possibility of seeing the stats chosen I am all for that and even to see how a rollover node will affect the character would be really helpfull.
The fiddling with 2 or more nodes ahead could be relatively easy to make on a homepage, like this one.

Wait a moment: how does auto-assignment according to a build plan you made remove diversity from the skill grid? Everything is just where the devs left it, only now you can run around and play the game, and all the while your character progresses according to plan. This enhances the streamlining functionality of marking up the grid, and is a very cool addition.

Your proclivity for winging it is something I endorse, however :D
nice idea
would make planning and remembering your build a lot easier as well as finding your build again after levling up ( -.- ).

thought i dont think something like auto-assing or naming of certain nodes would be very usefull
at least i wouldnt use the auto-assign and the tree is already massive
so i think it would only get more confusing since we got more than one zone with comparable effects wich doesnt even need to be focust on one area but can be split over half the thing
maybe naming certain ways on the tree with keywords yourself would be better (first,second,...,block,mana,health,...; depending on the nodes you picked or alround-words)

Good idea, would be really nice.
This would be an amazing addition to the game and I would love to see it implemented
^_^
Skill planning functionality would be so very useful imho.
My suggestions for the skill tree screen are as follows:

-Create a plan; perhaps using the right mouse button to click on the passive skill tree items to highlight and unhighlight, thus creating a plan.

-As previously suggested, a summary of statistics may be helpful, definitely showing the DPS, including 'planned' skills and actual choices.

-Passive skills should be easier to recognise at a glance; colour co-ordination may help, ie. '+Hit Point' passives should be tinted/coloured red and have easier to recognise symbols of their function, ie. '+HP' text displayed and in case of dual-sword type skills could have a two swords crossed picture integrated in to it.

-Skill undo function; when the user chooses a skill, it should be able to be undone while the skill tree remains open, and locked-in when closed.

This is simply a great idea. With the complexity of the web this seems almost mandatory to have.

I support this idea.
Got beta key on 15/11/2011, thanks dave01
And nary a single complication with this pulchritudinous idea.

It's easy to get lost in the giant talent web. And with the bonus summary, it'll save a bunch of orbs of regret.
As a new beta member, I fully endorse this idea.
