UPDATED: Extensive Guide to Nalaa's Static Blow Ranger Softcore Build (0.10.2B)

Hmm how bad is the nerf to life gain on hit going to be to this build?
What's the point taking unwavering stance? My main char is a CI witch and the only places i get in trouble with stuns are Fetid Pools (undead Rhoas) and the Docks (that dog packs with their machine gun breath attacks). The need for stun immunity is pretty situational. A Str/HP based char shouldn't have to worry about that as much as a low life build in the first place. Instead of spending passive points, spend 4-8 GCP and get an eye of chayula, that you put on when playing a map with monsters that can stunlock you.
Besides instead of spending a lot of points on the bottom of the tree (26 if i counted right), I'd rather take the short way up to Iron Grip, head to the marauder tree for Diamond Skin, Heart of Gladiator and Troll's Blood and still have like 10 points left to get for example Inner Force and some extra HP nodes (or Leather and Steel in the Duelist tree).

everyone has their own opinion.

If you want the resistances, the health, atk speed, and steel skin nodes you will have to go through the bottom. Remember that is only for those who are completely respecing due to the update.

However this is for the current build, if you want to go another way, then go for it but it wont be this build. if you want to make your own build create a new topic.

First i'm not a natural english speaker, so my post may have been misleading. I wasn't critizing the current build or proposing any alternatives. I'm just trying to UNDERSTAND the rational behind the popularity of Unwavering Stance and going round the bottom. If you get some net advantage of hp, passive points, resists or whatever out of it, then i could understand that strategy. I just don't see it. If there are game parts where playing a ranger without US is annoying or even impossible, i'd like to know. I want to understand a build before trying it.
Still dazed and confused.
the only issue I have is I have not seen many armor+eva gear pieces with a really good amount of each so straight eva might still be the way to go? unless ofcourse higher levels there are much better pieces that I just have not seen yet.

The nerf only affects damage effectiveness from the main skill gem and not the support gems, so it will be only a 30% reduction in healing from Lighning Arrow after the recent patch (would have been much much worse if it also applied to chain and LMP)

I would say it's still viable because it was fairly overpowered in the first place, unlikely that you can facetank mobs as easily but meh.

I've only started Merciless and noticed no major difference, so an end-game Ranger will have to comment further

After reading more details and responses from people in other thread's it looks like you are correct. LMP and Chain will change damage and projectile damage but not damage effectiveness. I think the notes were worded very specifically to mean only the main skills will be impacted.
How come passive instead of frenzy charge for bandit?

"As long as you have greater than 0 energy shield, you have an implicit 50% chance to avoid being stunned."

This is why you don't notice stuns that much.

If you didn't have ES, like this ranger build that stacks armor/evasion/iron reflexes, you would probably want Unwavering Stance.

Hi Guys,

i'm stuck right now. Not enough damage and not enough life. Squishy like hell and if my minions go down i have to run away. That results in no DMG and no Life-leech.

After they nerf Lifegain on Hit i even have problems to keep my bloodmagic up and running du to my 5L with LA+LMP+Chain+Ele DMG+LGoH

I've reached 67 now and from now on its going to be a pain in the *ss when i die even on grouped dock runs due to 2-3 crit-mobs rushing to me.

Maybe you have some improvements for me.
