Rain of Arrows

Attack speed increases the attack animation and reduces the delay before they fall. After discussion with Chris, I'm making it so that the arrow speed also affects the delay.

Thanks for the response!

That'll be great about arrow speed working now.

I'm worried that it'll be a bit lackluster in damage earlier on then if this bonus is removed. I'm currently getting the early projectile buffs (think 6-6-15?) and cutting that much damage off rain makes it not as impressive. Split arrow seems to output more damage across the board usually because of all the bonuses it has options too that Rain does not - projectile damage, pierce hitting multiple targets, add projectile support, Unique bows which 'add arrow'. Is there any passive/support that affects Rain of Arrows that doesn't affect Split Arrow? My only guess is increased AoE which only comes really in support gem form (int) since there are no realistic nodes for IAoE on the tree near a ranger.

Hopefully that came across constructively :) Maybe it's meant more for the int/dex class to come.

Just not seeing how it can compete or compare considering it is higher level required and I think it uses more mana. That and it is a whole lot safer/easier to use than Rain in hardcore ;)

100% sure. I tested it on purpose multiple times.

You can use a copy of my character (Gran) and you'll be able to replicate it.

I currently double checked and it still gives me double the amount.
Definitely doesn't happen with my testing character. We should be able to clone the characters so I can test with yours sometime in the next couple of days.
it might be related to one of those (or multiples):

added fire damage, weapon elemental damage, avatar of fire, blood magic

That's disappointing, because it is weaker than split arrow and it technically shoots arrows which are projectiles so it should be affected by projectile bonuses or else it should look different and not use arrows.

Projectile skills shoot something out from the character which travels in a straight line from the character until something causes it to chance (usually it hits something and causes damage. They can be affected by things like pierce chance and multiple projectiles.

Rain of arrows causes AoE damage after a short delay. It's mechanically entirely different and can't be affected by the things which apply to projectiles, such as pierce chance and multiple projectiles in any reasonable way.
raid of arrows only has the name as something that pertain to projectiles. It's application is much more similar to D2 meteor.

Beside, it's scaling is much better than split arrow so there's really no reason to buff the skill.
Just wanted to know if you were able to reproduce what I reported by using a copy of my character.
After discussion with Chris, we're making some projectiles things work with Rain of Arrows. It will continue to work with projectile damage increases and arrow/projectile speed increases, and we're enabling the "Faster Projectiles" gem to work with it.
Multiple Projectiles and Pierce still won't support the skill as they have no way to interact with it due to it not technically being a projectile.

Yes, it wasn't happening at first but now happens every time. I'm still working out why.
EDIT: Fixed, hopefully in next patch

just wondering, was it actually doing damage twice or just applying life on hit twice?

It was dealing damage up to three times sometimes, in fact.
