Does this still freeze if you have Avatar of Fire?
It's seems like it should given the description (30% chance to freeze target for x seconds), but if the backend is like freeze mine and uses phantom cold damage then it might not work. Anyone tested? I'd hate to make an entire build just to do a test. |

It will still trigger Freeze, but because you deal zero Cold damage the duration is also zero.

"If it actually said that, then it would be able to freeze things. What it actually says is just that it has a chance to freeze, it does not provide any duration. Thus the duration of the freeze is determined in the normal way, based on how much cold damage you dealt to the target. Since you won't deal and cold damage with AoF, you won't freeze anything. | |
Will this Skill's Shattering Effect work with AoE of Support Gem? I mean will the Secondary targets shatter?

I'm working on a glacial hammer build and I wanted to know if the three Skill Duration nodes in the middle of the skill tree affect the freeze or chill duration of the attack. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find the information so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks.

After testing Glacial hammer with about 60k dps with splash for over a week now this is my findings.
-damage scale is good for end game maps with the 125 base and the conversion you can get good damage out of the skill with melee phys and crit on the tree with WED in your gear -brings alot of utility to a group and people will generally love you for permafreezing everything -the large cull adds an extreme clear speed increase for 76-78maps -used multistrike and didnt find that it had more desync issues then anything else The Problem It could be just RNG but after having run 20+ high level maps with this skill with no map drops at all not even 66's in 78's i believe the skill breaks the map drop rates with its shatter/cull After i figured out that it may have been glacial hammer that was causing our negative map pool, i switched to ground slam and immediately began to get maps again. If this skill causes maps to not drop it is 100% not end game viable and is completely broken. Also altho i could freeze bosses it did not cull them |

Its really to bad that this skill only works with staffs and maces, this limits the skill in an unnecessary way. I think it should be more in line with Infernal Blow and Lightning Strike, fairly flexible weapon-wise. Besides, maces already have the stun theme going on, so its more interesting to provide the freeze mechanic to other weapons. I would say, at least enable it to be used with Axes (although I think it should be usable with swords as well). The name could easily be changed to Glacial Strike and potentially a different special effect could be added for axes and swords.
Furthermore, I think you should really look at the map drop note that xevecx1 pointed out, it really breaks the skill if what he suspects is true.
