[2.0 HC] Lepor's low cost, high survivability Fakener. [CoC]
Updated my gear a bit and it's a lot safer now. Still, chaos damage is really dangerous even if you pop a flask.
Also got my new dagger which I will use with shield: (master craft will increase Attack Speed) Also mana is no longer an issue thanks to my self crafted Elreon ring. I wouldn't have thought that CoC Discharge would work that well in HC. Ungil's Harmony is really the BiS until you can afford a Volls. I'm currently playing the Ranger variation on Tempest atm, and while the damage output is insane on large packs, I find myself lacking in both offense and defensively come boss/single targets. I just started maps on this one and the Tropical boss of all things almost ripped me rofl. I'm not concerned with damage (it's actually not that bad with vaal haste), but survivability.
Right now I'm using Grace and Iron Will combo w/ 8234 armour/52% dmg reduction, not including endurance charges or granite/ jade flask (28.2k armour/90% dmg reduction with flasks, endurnace charges and golem) use a Chaos Golem, and STILL get chunked from bosses. Though my HP is currently on the low side of 3.7k. Also thorns and reflect still fking hurt, surprised haven't ripped to that yet, though had numerous close calls. Would switching to Acrobatics change things or is this spec just squishy in general? I do have evasion on all my gear minus my gloves already anyways. My current/planned tree

I'm SUPER budget if you couldn't tell, the most I spent was 10c for my corrupted 6 link and everything else was either self found/crafted or bought for super cheap. If anything I spent the most currency rolling my surgeon flasks, only after I got them all I realized I should have searched poe.trade rofl. Mana wise I use Curse on hit > HoT > Warlords > Mana Leech and do just fine without any other source of mana regen or Elreons. I've been playing around with my spell gems and I like arc/ ice nova the most but switch out for shock nova/discharge from time to time. Though I'm not a fan of discharge atm cause I need the endurance charges up or I drop. Also found a blood dance so I started using that. If I ever have enough for a Rat's Next, the boots will be the switch. For my bandits I did Oak/kill/kill. I killed them all in merc cause I was planning on going discharge. I'll probably Book of reborn for a +1 Frenzy if I stay this way though. Last edited by imrawn#1334 on Aug 19, 2015, 9:03:51 AM

Whirling blades with fortify isn't really optional, IMO. 20% dmg reduction is too good.
It's also an escape route if things get hairy. Having it on Blood Magic means you can always escape, and reposition quickly. |

Why do you go EE? It's a lot of passives only for DPS, which this build isn't lacking anyways.
Haven't thought about combining Mana Leech with Heralds. Can you confirm this works? Also nice to see it has no mana multiplier. CwDT + EK + Blind seems nice, too. Though I would take Ball Lightning since it can hit larger enemies (like bosses) two times. Chaos Golem is not that great imo because constant and low bonus, I take the Ice Golem on CwDT so you dont have to resummon it all the time. I got loads more survivability from not going right to get the 2 lonely crit nodes (50% total) but instead went middle to gather more evasion. The life wheel gives loads more life compared to most other life nodes. Also I will drop the Twin Terror nodes together with my second dagger soon for some shield, I think the crit is enough and it's more important to bolster defenses. Also you should link a Fortify with Whirling, it's basically 25% less damage from hits as you charge in the mobs. I recommend Ungil's Harmony as amulet, it really helps a lot, also prevents yourself from killing yourself with reflect and doesn't reduce the damage a lot but makes critting far more consistent. Acrobatics are great in Softcore but too risky in HC, especially now that Physical damage has been increased. Also DoT effects, chaos and phys spells literally rape evasion based chars. Blood Dance are really DPS only boots, would not take them in HC, Blood Rage is more reliable anyways. Same for Rat's Nest. If you want to go Discharge save up for a 5L Volls, you can get them for like 1ex. IGN: Haeresie

" I did an EE map and the damage increase was really noticeable, so i decided I'd try it. Though I do admit it is probably overkill overall. My initial plan for my helm setup was to get a fire skill gem with a lvl 1 CWDT to proc EE for my arc/ice nova dmg. Right now I'm using EK + blind, merely cause I ran out of chromatics and it just happen to work out that way haha. Atm I'm not specced into EE, but still planning on making my way there at lvl 80(currently 75). I took out my phys leach ring and warlords and did a dried lake run with just HoT + mana leech and my mana was indeed getting leeched, though not as smoothly as it was with Warlords. I actually go oom on single target without warlords, but on large packs it was manageable, but not as good as warlords spread. Used whatever chroms I could find to get a GGR on one of my daggers for fortify, and will try out Ungil's Harmony, maybe I can find a +1 frenzy or lightning leech on .trade. Defense wise, I'm now actually starting to lean towards a shield now, maybe this will help me not get one shotted by a blue big powerful crit skele like I almost just did..... With shield you lose some crit but after my first reflect experiences i'd say it's totally worth it.
I think the BiS are Saffell's Frame and Atziri's Step plus a Topaz. Also I think about dropping Blood Rage because the DPS increase is rather low and taking Vaal Pact is much safer with the high leech you get from WM and maybe some equip. With BR you need to kill 4 enemies to reliably get a Frenzy Charge, so you need to kill 12 with one Discharge in order to get all 3, this will rarely happen. In most cases you get 1 or maybe 2 charges from BR. Also Vulnerability becomes much more dangerous with BR and of course you lose your life regen. It's interesting to see how different CoC Discharge is in HC, because it's a balancing act between DPS and survivability. Edit: Switching from Twin Terrors to Shield only cost me around 4% effective chance to crit even with my very high crit dagger, so its definitely worth it. Blood Rage rage gives attack speed, which means faster whirling across the map, and faster discharges. Also consistent frenzy charges. More multiplier, and discharge food.
I got a super cheap almost perfect Saffel's last night, tested it out, definitely makes spell bosses and reflect a lot less scary. I lost about 10% crit chance, and the dual wield attack speed bonus. Still feel like physical is really spiky damage, though. If I could, I'd have 2 daggers, and swap between saffel's and a high armor shield like lioneye's glare. Next step is probably to craft up a Vagan dagger and get a Rat's nest. |

Level 57, Cruel, Act 4. always dying, very frustrating.
