Because it can be done with both, also with Shadow. Personal preference.

EB is not needed, the mana cost can easily be handled.

US is good to have but it costs way to many skill points.

I am currently working on a new build that is far more superior than this.
I may have to make a new guide, haven't decided yet.

4 procs is the optimal.

If it was 100% chance to proc then yea, 8 procs would be the optimal :).

Barrage + GMP fires 8 projectiles and COC has a 69% chance to proc on each time. That is 5.52 COC procs on a perfect scenario.

But then again you need to calculate your chance to hit and your critical chance with barrage. You can only 95% chance to hit and 95% chance to crit.

Then you have the COC proc cool down which is 0.05 seconds. This means if any of your barrage hits land with in a window of 0.05 seconds the gem is on cool down and it will not proc.

If you add all those together, 4 procs is the best you can get.

Current gear



The idea is to go hybrid Life/ES with The Vertex vaal mask.
Use 3 purities or 2 purities + empower(lvl3) for level 23 purities.

5 jewels with +3 ES on hit, one with +2 mana on hit. Assuming all 8 projectiles hit from barrage thats 120ES and with 2.3 attack per second thats around 250 ES per second leeched back.

Elemental Equilibrium. Does more damage than 2 heralds.

Bandits
skill skill endurance charge

Cap elemental resistances with out boots. Rare boots to cap chaos resists, Kaom's boots back up boots. At the moment I have 84/84/84/75 chaos resist with rare boots on.

Boss setup
Use voll's amulet + romiras rings + immortal call on barrage links. With 5 endurance charges you have 100% uptime of immortal call.
You can pretty much face tank every boss in the game with this setup.
Bosses like Malachai or Dominus or any other high physical damage bosses become trivial.
Kaom's boots provide unwavering stance to further increase defenses.
I haven't tested any Uber bosses though.

Normal setup, DPS amulet + DPS ring + life leech/immortal call on barrage links.

Its still a work in progress so some things might change.

Wouldn't it be better to drop romiras rings and run discharge as one of your spells in the boss setup?
