Explosive Arrow Marauder (Updated for Release)

You can run it solo easy but really imo you should run it with a MFer. I've gotten 8 uniques just off the boss with a full 6 man party.

EDIT: I also totally agree with you Pastromy. For almost all situations you don't need EE at all. I just put it in because there is also utility in being able to quickly kill very tough bosses like shrine piety or crematorium boss. EE is a pain in the ass, tho. Also, killing too fast will make it so your MFer can't use culling strike. So, most players will want to leave EE out.

on Anarchy, if anyone was trying to buy one... But I'm not sure, it doesn't have AS. Been trying this build out on standard, died on onslaught to Hailrake :P

Could you guys give me an updated strategy for this? I really want to do the build, but most stuff seems outdated.

The strategy is mostly the same.

Required Gems: Explosive Arrow (quality is HIGHLY preferred), Fire Penetration, Elemental Proliferation.

Other Gems to choose between: Chance to Ignite (Especially good early or if you don't have a quality EA), Increased AoE, Increased Burn Damage (if you have 20q EA and a 20q Increased Burn Damage, you shouldn't need Chance to Ignite anymore), and Concentrated Effect.

The strategy is to 5 stack a target, cast flammability, and proc EE with your element of choice (generally using Lightning Arrow or Split Arrow). Once the explosion occurs, you should proc EE once more to increase the burn damage from the prolif.
I'm really considering dropping chance 2 ignite on my 6th link for increased burning damage. All my gems are 20q but I'm just pissed it took so many chromes to get b-b-b-b-g-r lol. I guess ill drop chance 2 ignite and see how many mobs catch on fire without it.

Also, I'm debating the whole patch with losing over 1k armor without the dex bonus from IR. I use pastromy's build and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile picking some other armor nodes or like the cloth and chain nodes on the bottom of the tree. I'm currently at 8k health and 8.6k armor with grace and IR


Deltrus talked me into this combo back when he 6-linked his quill. I was going to go for increased area bbbbrg combo; however, it really isn't needed. So much of the damage from this build comes from the burn damage I can't see why people would pass up the 10% ignite and extra 60% burn damage.

Also, I would never drop chance to ignite for anything right now. Having 85%+ chance to ignite on hit really shines (especially when you are dealing with single target bosses)

20% from EA
14% from flammability
10% from Increased burning
44% from chance to ignite
88% total

The new patch made me sad, I lost 750 armor ~2.5% reduction :(

Thank you, very helpful. Are the skill trees that the OP made on the first page of this post still good? Can anyone give me some samples of progression if they aren't?

Yes, they are still good.
Tons of minor changes that can be made depending on what you want to focus on., but they should give you a reasonable idea.
Do you want more armour/attack speed/damage/life/regen/mana cost reduction etc.

Given the reflect change can you now dodge reflected explosive arrow damage?
Arctic armour does work now giving a reason to maybe try a mana build at some point.

Got a full respect from the patch(used most of my remaining free respect points to get there cause hey why not. 9 or so points for 94)
so debating grabbing dodge/maybe dropping IR if I do/ ondars guile/just more life..
was close to level 77. Have been just doing alc 66/67 maps so far.

People considering ditching chance to ignite, the ignite duration is rather nice as well.

Question for you guys. Lvl 55ish here. I am considering getting a Tabula Rasa, and adding a rarity gem and a quantity gem to do some farming as i level/grind in merciless. Currently have a 4link EA and a 4link Split Arrow. So my question is:
Should I say, add the 2 magic find gems to my Explosive Arrow? And will they activate from EA's burning damage and explosion, from both?
Or the other option would be removing chance to flee from Split arrow, and adding culling strike, and the two MF gems. On the previous page a guy has EA, Split arrow with culling strike and MF gems, and lighting arrow with life on hit for heals. That's also an option....
Any advise?
Currently using EA+Elem Prolif+AOE+Chance to Ignite.
And Split Arrow+Hp on hit+chain+chance to flee.
