80% LESS damage... GGG world record for hardest nerf?
" Depends entirely on what you compare it with. Compare it with a normal summoner and it's expensive. Arguably in it's current situation, very expensive for very little return, thus not an efficient upgrade to roll in to. (not when compared to its other +1/+2 counterpart = SRS which you can roll into at a later stage and allows ubber farming to boot) And i would say, with the current version of the skill gem, you would have to roll into it in the late-game, as opposed to playing it from the mid 40's, which was a possibility before. But it's redundant since the alternative is faster and has more potential. Which is why, like i stated earlier, this gem needed a 20% nerf and proliferate a 50% nerf. The sum total for this combo would be similar, but the skill itself would still be playable as a bomber for summoners, thus leaving the mechanic in place. I expected GGG to nerf the culprit. " burn/prolif will see its day with the balance changes, you dont make a snap nerf to a mechanic that effects countless build variants across the entire scope of characters in the game to sort of 1 particular ridiculously broken mechanic that has surfaced. They did a short term nerf to one broken mechanic that needed to be sorted right now before countless people invest into a build that was actually broken and should not have been allowed to exist in that state. Virtually no one was playing this build in the grand scheme of things, yet, which is why they needed to nip it in the bud right now, and thats what they did, thankfully. Credit to them. You dont rush a change to something as wide spread as burning damage or prolif, not one single person in existence knows every prolif build out there, what exactly people are doing and how much of it is reasonable + how much is over powered. They are rightly taking their time and waiting till a league crossover point to make a fundamental change to the state of the game like altering burn/prolif that is going to effect 10,000s of characters, loads of whom are not doing anything op and are in the middle of a league actively playing. |

" That's a personal opinion, one that i don't share. I would play this build without proliferation if it was a strong AOE nuke like RoA. combining it with decoy totem or vaal lightning warp for instance would yield funny results. @snorkle, partially agree, prolif should have never remained in the state it is for so long. Pretty much all mechanics around it are excessive and if not that, then they are abusive. You could reduce prolif burn degen by 50% and most prolif burns would still be effective screen killers. It would not destroy any builds, it might just refocus the fights on dealing more then a single attack/cast. Big woop. also like i mentioned before in this thread, i think this skill deserved a nerf, just not such a hefty one on this gem alone. " This is how I've been feeling with the build too. I'm trying to build motivation to rework shit but higher damage comes at the cost of lower effective DPS lowering AOE or ignite chance. Also I can't exactly afford to get a 6l so I can't just power through the changes. I'm just so discouraged from such a heavy nerf. It does seem like they really don't want it to be even viable. Even in max gear it's not that impressive, regardless of what everyone is saying watching the maker's video. Compare that video to an SRS build in similar gear and report back trying to tell me MA is fine.
