Mechanics thread
evasion crit roll uses same evasion just done a second time to verify a crit happened or not.
if you block, it doesn't matter if foe crit or not (except for adder's touch, elemental effects (burning specifically), and other "on hit" effects) because no damage is taken on a block, but you still "get hit". |

" This still is unclear as to what I am asking. Does monster accuracy, or any other stat, factor into the evasion rating for the "evading a crit" roll. I can't give a full on example since monster accuracy ratings aren't known but ... Here are the calculations that are clear to me -> Chance to Evade = 1 - Attacker's Accuracy / ( Attacker's Accuracy + (Defender's Evasion / 4) ^ 0.8 ). Does this formula apply to the crit check as well?? If not, how is the "chance to evade a crit" calculated? " Well that clears up why I see more ele ailments than i expect to see. But I believe you misunderstood my question about block. I wasn't refering to crit vs. block. I was asking if block calculations had any other factors involved besides my block chance. Such as the formula above or any variation. Check out my Frozen Dagger build in the Shadow forums!!

sorry i can't completely answer the first question then. however blocking only happens when the evasion check fails at the beginning, everything else important was already said about blocking. you gain a block animation if you would've been stunned from the damage (but you take none due to you blocked). you still "get hit" and thus applicable effect trigger. there is nothing else special/hidden about blocking and block chance.

" Maybe I can clear this up a bit. The evasion "Chance" shown on my character screen is an estimate based on my evasion rating vs. the accuracy rating of the average white monster of my current level (now capped at 70 i believe). For instance if I am level 1 with a 50% chance to evade, a level 10 monster's accuracy rating will far out scale me causing my evasion chance to drop significantly. Is the block chance shown on my character screen an estimate or is it a flat chance vs. any monster's accuracy rating? I am assuming that it is a flat chance considering you stated that there is "nothing else special/hidden about blocking". This would have been evident to me if I had taken the time to consider that block chance shown on my char screen doesn't change from level to level. Thnx for your help. And if anyone can clear up my question about crit evasion I would appreciate it! Check out my Frozen Dagger build in the Shadow forums!!

Block is a flat chance and there are no effects to counteract it (except in PvP) to my knowledge. But it is pure random, so it can feel streaky. Block rating has absolutely nothing to do with Accuracy or Evasion. Except for the fact that if an enemy hits you tehy have to pass the block check.
As far as crit: When an enemy crits it just rolls a second hit chance exactly the same as the first. If you have 50% Evasion you also "ignore" 50% of crits. Crit literally has to pass two independent accuracy checks to get through to you before you start Dodging and Blocking. IGN - PlutoChthon, Talvathir

Can you be stunned while on low life?

"stun chance is based on max hp and damage taking. your current hp has nothing to do with it, however your armor and res does factor in. |

I want to make a ranged dual elemental hit totem, but have some questions about mechanics.
Does "increased elemental damage with weapons" affect the damage output? If yes, so should flat elemental rolls on gear as well as Anger wrath and the ele damage support gem, right? I´m pretty sure but just to be sure, my shots can miss so I need acc or resolute..? thx in advance! |

How does mana reserve reduction works with Reduced Mana gem?
Say I have lvl 20 Reduced Mana gem (71%) with 10% mana reserved nodes and I want to calculate the cost of a 40% aura, would it be : -(1) 40*.71 = 28.4% (2) 28.4 - 40*.10 = 24.4% or -(1) 40*.71 = 28.4% (2) 28.4*.9 = 25.56% Thank you |
