you know, i'm actually surprised no one uses the burning miscreations specters from lunaris temple, especially with 3 of them just walking into groups of enemies having max regen with life leech + thier unrighteous fire being active...at least they will slaughter everything on merciless, didn't try on normal or cruel because i never saw my entire group of minions die in 4 seconds. You want your spectres at the back where they can do tons of damage and not risk dying to boss. Never the less they're still good at killing. Also does life leech and mana leech support gems or gear work on minions? And since I've never used minions before this might sound dumb... Not needed. rush to MI from the right side first. You can respec later. Use minions as bombs to clear out mobs. Try supporting your minions with arc early on.
