What are the pro's and cons of going blood magic summoner?

You can make a very strong hp character with blood magic

Blood magic as in the keystone?

Not sure i would advise that, summoner builds rely a great deal on auras, and blood magic + auras make you fairly weak.

But gettin a blood magic support gem for one of the cheaper auras (incase you have mana trubble) or for your curses could work, if you have the extra gem slot to spare.

If you realy want to try a blood magic summoner feel free to do so, but then you should probably only use the most essential auras. A good thing with it would be that you no longer would need clarity (a very max mana expensive aura).

Latest Build (more Hp then before)

This is the latest build I came up with (more life then my previous ones). resist can easily be taken care of with purity + gear

Looks good enough, with minor variations for different playstyles. I personally would probably try tapping into Necromantic Aegis since this build might have enough buffer health to survive even without shield bonuses.

Also, what is your reasoning for not getting the +1% health regen in the templar tree?

Seems kinda redundant when you walk around with 3 hp pots. you could drop the +16 chaos resist node for it i guess.

What is the spell used by the Blackguard mages? Some sort of electricity spell that seems to surround my minions and do damage to nearby mobs... I spectre-ed 2 of them and my minions seem to roll over the mobs more than usual.

Blackguard "Arc"mage

ahhh... so it 'chains' my minions to spread to the mobs?
No, they cast two spells. One is Arc, which they cast on enemies. The other is a buff that they cast on their allies (like your pets if you raise one as a spectre) and I'm not sure what it does. I would have thought that it's tempest shield but the graphic is different I think.

I looked into that shield apparently it reflects lightning damage. Its called Lightning thorns(key word thorns) so i thought it was lightning reflect. Can anyone confirm on that?

You should really add in fire damage, fire damage is insane in this game and a lot of people dont understand that.

I don't do nothing at all I push two buttons for curses and another button for conversion traps. And sometimes I click at items. ( am burning enough calories already! that is like 3 buttons! )
Hah, that's a nice way to play sometimes, but the main problem I've found with not using attack spells myself is it seems to make the minion AI a lot lazier. If you attack something far away they tend to run and attack it, so I use spells as like a command attack for them.

Quite fond of quality Spark on fast cast and fork instead of Arc though, it goes nuts in big groups and seems to spread shock around better for me. Hitting 5 max per Arc got boring.
Hey there,

I've been reading your guide a few days ago and got my summoner witch to lvl 61 (2h-sword, boots, amulet). Tons of fun so far! Love the Flame Sentinel mobs :)

Maybe you could add another mob type to Gold or Silver. I'd probably go for gold.. I'm talking about the Alchemists inside act3 sewers. The ones that cast something like a remote-mine-poisonarrow.

I didn't test them anywhere besides sewers, yet. Don't know if they might be too squishy?

Anyways - great guide.

Cheers!
