Hey there,

I've been reading your guide a few days ago and got my summoner witch to lvl 61 (2h-sword, boots, amulet). Tons of fun so far! Love the Flame Sentinel mobs :)

Maybe you could add another mob type to Gold or Silver. I'd probably go for gold.. I'm talking about the Alchemists inside act3 sewers. The ones that cast something like a remote-mine-poisonarrow.

I didn't test them anywhere besides sewers, yet. Don't know if they might be too squishy?

Anyways - great guide.

Cheers!

Added, cheers for the find.

When do you recommend getting EB? What amount of HP should I have before even considering it?
I got a question to high level summoners, please clear a few things for me.

I stopped playing my summoner at the point of level 52 then i managed to get 9 zombies with 7.6k HP (quality gems and +2 helm) and they were completely annihilated in act 3 cruel...

Will the situation change on future levels ? because im afraid to imagine what will happen on merciless if they 2 shot my 7.6k on cruel...

Summoners only get better. They are hands down best solo class in the game.

I completely agree with you.
Even though I'm only lvl 24 I've tried all the other classes such as tank and so on but summoner is the only class which is best. For starting out summoners I would recommend getting minion instability right after getting mana regeneration. If you can bear the first 5 or so levels you can get the DEX and the STR bonuses (Refer to skill tree)

I wouldn't suggest respec the DEX and STR bonuses at all. You're going to need them anyway when you get spell totem. And on the plus side you get HP and dodge bonuses which really helped me.

I found fire trap extremely useful when I was fighting Merveil as she kept running around in her first form. I defeated her by throwing fire traps then luring her closer to the traps (Added Lightning damage) by skeletons which explode and caused a distraction allowing me to run to the other side. Then I just repeated it.

Result was that I escaped almost non scalded (Screwed it up a bit when she started sending explosive squids)

I think there's a lot more to pet survival than raw health. I got a new helm that's EV/Armor and couldn't get it to roll 3 blue sockets, so I left it at 2 and dropped Minion Life in favor of a dps support. I now use zombies with ~12k health (they had ~15k with ML) and they live just as well. Several of the 68-70 maps I did last night were done with 0 zombie deaths, and only on two occasions did I lose a substantial number of zombies in one fight.

There are several other factors that help my zombies stay alive. I run Discipline and Purity, and also have Necromantic Aegis which currently only gives my zombies another 70ish Energy Shield but seems to help. Once I find a shield that has the same offensive stats as my current one but also has more ES/life/resists it will be even better. Also, having 4 high dps spectres helps keep zombies alive because nothing lives long enough to do much damage (notable exceptions are fire golems and alchemists). Finally, simply having so many minions, including skellies, spreads the damage out because mobs tend to switch targets a lot, which results in them basically not accomplishing anything since all of my minions have a relatively large energy shield.

There are always going to be certain types of mobs that can kill minions quickly, but we have ways to deal with that. Enfeeble and/or Temporal Chains really drop mob dps if it's just regular attacks and AOEs that are killing them. If you come across a room with a really bad pack of mobs in it, you can drop a skelly totem right outside and then as they kill a few things (via regular damage or MI explosions) you can raise zombies into the room with the fresh corpses and they tend to surround the remaining things quickly, either killing them or at least allowing you to move in yourself and hopefully having your spectres follow you and blow everything up.
Hi OP,

Thanks for the guide. I started this build yesterday and it was a lot fun!
By the way, "Carrion Queen - Sarn Slums - Fire" <= Is this in ACT3?
