Should be noted I'm gonna run with three dragons, as I would much rather have my incinerate shock (also why i'm gonna pick up some extra %chance to shock).
herald of thunder + curse on hit + elemental weakness + flammability - this should proc like crazy (considering i'm shocking with incinerate) and do double curses. An added bonus is that herald of thunder should be freezing aswell - it can't apply shock, but freeze should be possible. Depending on how much freeze it does it might be an option to add ele prolif instead of flammability curse.
Herald of ice would benefit from the freezes from herald of thunder and explode doing cold damage (that can burn - ele prolif the burn is a possibility). All of these effects and damage types will be helped by the celestial cluster at templar (penetration, status ailments)
inci+echo+faster casting+fire pen+gmp (+leech)
Well it's all theory - and my theories often fail hard :)
Will see how it works out.
Thanks for the guide Kute, but honestly this is not "tanky".
I played Incinerate in Rampage with really cheap Gear (around 5ex). I had 4.8k life, 1.5k unreserved mana and 300mp/sec regen at Level 90, which is about what your Build has to offer. BUT on top of that in 1.2 AA had about 20% more effect, Cloak of Defiance had 10% more absorb and most important i had 74/75% Block. Lets put it like this: I facetanked everything up to atziri with every possible mapmode w/o taking any damage. -maxres/eleweekness/elereflect/+100% lightning damage palace? like i give a fuck o.O I just portet in front of dom and served him right.
I have NO FUCKING CLUE why GGG nerved ALL 3 defensive mechanics in this build???? On Top of that they REKT the starting area of my which to a point where it is weaker than shadows for any sort of Elemental-Casting-Based builds. Is this a fucking joke??? I liked my witch and but i ain't gonna fucking take -3% castspeed penalty for not choosing a shadow, NA-HA. Basicly Chris and his accomplice raped my beloved incineratwhich with a cactus and left my bleeding to death in a dark alley =(((
Because of all this bullshit going on im reking with my tornadoshot-ranger atm but i love the fact that you try to bring the tanky incinerate back. Maybe ill give this a shot but im pretty sure it wont ever be the same =(
Would that be because your rare wand aint anything special? 0% cast speed nor projectile speed. Ofc projectile speed wouldn't affect dps, but will result faster clearing times due to longer range. The cast speed is one main thing when using incinerate.
It's over 100% increased fire damage and still over 70% increased spell damage overall. It only costed 3c during the first week of the league, but if you want to add 10+ cast speed and 20+ proj speed to it, that's 10c on the best possible deal currently and most of them are actually priced in the exalt+ range. All of them are worse than Doryani's, which still only makes a 4% difference in DPS.
Until you get a Doryani's, moonsorrow or lifesprig are more than sufficient, and even when you get the Doryani's, you'd almost feel no difference. It's far more important to get mana regen, life, ES, and mana for this build for facetanking.
20% quality on your incinerate, faster casting, and GMP will give you additional benefits without ever needing to replace them later.
I would disagree. I used
and
before I got .
The Doryani's added about 4% to my DPS over the moonsorrow which had about the same DPS as my rare wand, or maybe just 0.5% less.
You can't even notice the difference really. Lifesprig is also just as good.
The build is not gear dependent for damage at all. Quality on gems and more links does far more than better gear.
That's because your rare wand is not that special at all. I said that the 3 most important things are Spell, Cast, and proj, and that wand has only 1 of the 3. The lack of cast speed pretty much kills that wand's DPS like it invalidates this one:
(but this baby is a Flameblast wand, so it don't care :D)
Here you go: every single one of those wands will outperform a Moonsorrow, and all of those are 3c or under.
A build that is "not gear-dependent for damage" would be able to not use a wand and function perfectly fine. In fact, so much of the damage scaling comes from the weapon instead of the tree that it's vital to use a good weapon.
So far I'm using the Moonsorrow and at least for Merciless it's a cakewalk :).
I bought a 5l CoD this morning and added chaos dmg to my set. That made me extremely poor :(.
All my currency was spent on the chest ("all my currency" = 1 ex, lol - oh RNG, be on my side once in my life!), so I only have 10 chaos left...
I found a 70% spell dmg, 19% cast speed, 20% projectile speed wand for that price, but that leaves me with no currency to invest on a good pair of gloves.
My buffed tootip dmg (herald of ice and herald of thunder + lvl 1 added chaos dmg) with the Moonsorrow is 1.9k.
Is the rare wand I found really worth the cost? How much of an impact does the projectile speed, spell dmg and casting speed make? I mean, my Moonsorrow has 54% spell dmg and 10% cast speed, and it has the lvl 5 blind support. I don't have any experience with the witch class, so I can't really value a good wand and the impact it does on dmg.
Shouldn't I prioritize a pair of gloves and jewelry next?
Here's my gear right now:
If your wands go past 10c apiece, you should seriously consider a Doryani's Catalyst before you sink too much currency into intermediates. Also, 70/19/20 is pretty decent for a wand, that's something I wouldn't mind getting myself. DPS-wise, it'll be roughly similar to a Doryani, just without the leech.

Just by looking at the tree, I can tell you that it won't work at all. You have absolutely no mana, and that will completely invalidate any defense mechanisms. In fact, you won't even be able to fuel Incinerate's mana cost no matter how amazing your mana gear is.

1. AA was too strong.
2. CoD was too strong.
3. Block was too strong.
Combining all of them made witches tanky, which invalidates the risk-reward system and further invalidates the melee class as a tanky class. Of course they needed nerfs, and I'm glad they got nerfed. Otherwise I would have obviously made a block-CoD-AA incinerate just like I made a block-CoD-AA arc build in 1.2.
This build is as tanky as someone can expect to be without resorting to Evasion and Acro, which absolutely murders the build's anti-oneshot potential.

Is this wand good enough? I don't have money to buy Dory. got it for 2chaos.

So I made the char and I added 2 mana nodes, because I expected to have big problems with mana. Turns out I have no issues keeping up with mana. Even able to run infernal mantle with none of my jewelry having mana regen - mana almost evens out. That's with herald of thunder (no reduced mana), herald of ice and clarity. Of course my defences can't be fueled like this, but there is plenty of gear that can be improved.
