Here's to hoping the lack of concurrent users and support from microtransactions this patch will change GGG's stance on continuing to make their game worse

2) The Steam Achivemente are clear: only 44.7% of the players get to kill Brutus (over 50% of players quit even before), only 37.7% of players kill Merveil and only 14.6% of the players finish the game in Normal difficutly. More of the 85% of the players who started playing PoE have never seen Cruel difficulty. I think the problems of the game are different, and i am convinced that the percentages mentioned above will not changes much after the release of 1.3. The game is dying.
This kinda took me by surprise, considering how simple Brutus & Merveil are on Normal mode. (Yeah, even Dominus is easy in Normal mode.) Are there really that many people who don't realize you can't stand in one place through the whole fight? I'm curious as to where you got these figures.
These figures are from steam ... http://steamcommunity.com/stats/PathofExile/achievements/
I don't think it's necessarily that people struggle with the fights and quit, more that they lose interest in the game too quickly and quit.
You probably are right but as a developer all I see is an enormous loss of potential customers. Even as a free game, folks that quit aren't ever going to buy any supporter packs or MTX. It still should warrant a lot of attention from GGG (which they could already be doing for all I know).
It's not too atypical for a lot of things, people start it and don't finish it. Most folks that start reading a book don't finish it, I've heard a lot of people don't finish movies on TV, etc.

A handful of "Oops, we made a mistake" Legacy items are understandable, but this is just getting ridiculous.
Is it really a wise decision to allow what is essentially an entirely separate game (that which is played by RMTers, EJs, and cutthroat scammers who hoard the growing numbers of legacy items officially branded as "overpowered" or ensure they remain at prices which keep them thoroughly out of reach of the player base at large) to linger on as a constant reminder to newer, self-found, or just plain unfortunate players that they will now likely never (via legitimate means) be able to experience the highest level of character power Path of Exile has to offer?
The so-called "carrot on a stick" concept is what keeps people playing aRPGs, but shouldn't everyone be chasing the same carrot? GGG would do well to either ditch the whole legacy concept or consider investing into a testing environment for Unique items that maybe isn't ... oh I dunno ... the live game, as it only ends up making people angry.
It's important to note that I am not myself a new player. I have been playing off an on since launch, with over 1000 hours logged. I would gladly see my one truly GG item (a now double-legacy BoR) receive a retroactive change as long as all players had to endure the same.
TL;DR: Exclusivity breeds discouragement and the moniker "Path of Legacy" is becoming more and more fitting with every patch.
P.S. And to those who are sure to say, "Just play the new 3-month leagues, everyone is on the same page there": a temporary refuge before your characters are dumped back into the absurdity that is standard/hardcore is not a solution to the problem in question.

Is there a new tree with the witch changes?

Yeah. I mean think about your first two hours of the game as a noon to ARPGs - you struggle to get the mana to even sustain the skill gem you found on the beach, you don't even have the scrolls to ID the blue items you find, and you open the skill tree and it has 1,000 interconnected nodes.
The game is tiny in terms of player base. And part of that is that if you're new to the genre, it starts really slow. Racers =\= new players at low levels, and if none of the lowbies turn into endgame players, the game stagnates and dies regardless of how GGG balances end game content.
Been there, done that! :D
I wouldn't exactly consider myself an ARPG noob either - used to play Diablo 2 almost religiously, and I have a little over 3 thousand hours in Diablo 3 as well, plus I've played other ARPGs like Sacred, Titan Quest, and a few others. This game plays differently from any other ARPG I've played. (That's what attracted me to the game, strangely enough.) I can't begin to count how many characters I've deleted and rerolled because I hit a brick wall to where I couldn't progress without getting 1-shotted to white trash. I've gotten quite a bit better at this game, but I still wouldn't go as far as to say I'm an expert on any one char. I'm having too much fun with Witch atm, and the build I run is nowhere near on the level of what the GG guys run.

Do those statistics include people who have PoE in their library but have not played it yet? I'd much rather see GGG's statistics regarding player retention. I don't think Steam's statistics are optimal considering the amount of players who partake mostly in trading, game hoarding, or top games like CS:GO or Dota.

I'm pretty happy. It looks like I'll pretty much be able to keep my main character in standard after the respec, and I might actually have a couple of extra skill points.

I definitely agree. Although it may be annoying for some players when their item gets nerfed, I do not think legacy items are a solution. Perhaps work on alternate art, special flavor text, or something to distinguish legacy from new, but allowing them to (normally) retain their stats is a poor decision imo.
