Account has been hacked.

I bet 1 chaos orb that all the hacked accounts got hacked due to either visiting shady websites or clicking on what they should not click on videos form youtube or by downloading hacks that have keyloggers or other malware in them.

@GGG staff: in retrospect, this morning while checking the onlines, when the game loaded up instead of the regular welcome message on the login screen, there was a bunch of HTML code. Like viewing the source of a webpage. I believe it has nothing to do with the hacks but u never know. Should have taken a screen cap. Sorry for not doing it.

Add yet another victim, with a unique PoE password, not having used anything to attempt to 'hack'the game, not clicking on suspicious links relating tot he game (all i use are common resources)...

If we cooperate we could find a source to this.

Did any of you guys here that got hacked visit any websites that were linked on the forums (sites like the one for tracking GGG posts or i've seen some links to some couple of sites that give currency exchange rates). I wonder if those sites have something to do with it. They can either contain malicious code in them wither with or without the consent or knowledge of the owner. Some of that code could steal cookies or what not and enable the attacker to access accounts.

Also another theory in my head is what if its neither the user's fault nor GGG. Something like a man in the middle attack type thing or DNS cache poisoning somewhere. Or something along those lines.

The person who accessed your account has only accessed a total of 25 accounts. I don't know how he got your password. The IP is from China.

Well guess what ? Not everybody is a cheater but thanks for trying to make us look like one.

Anyway, we can't all be security gods, I've never been hacked in any other game (not even WoW) and since it's so easy to acquire passwords via keylogger GGG needs to implement some sort of IP checking, send a mail or ask a personal question each time someone tries to connect with a different IP.

Less importantly but still, are items going to be refunded (provided that a hack has happened) ? 50 hours gone to ashes, I'm not sure I'm up to do it again.

1) Use up to day antivirus (any)
2) Use original software, cracked applications may work, but also may (and many ARE) include keylogging software. BTW: Microsoft reported fey years ago that 70% of cracked windows installations you can find on torrents contains malware.
3) Use Unique password for EVERY site you use. Many online forums/sites got hacked, passwords leaked, and they will not tell you about it. The "hacker" just need to match user/password on this forum. Also those users/passwords list is trading commodity item on the black market...

1) Linux user. But my BitDefender is up to day.
2) Only Free software from repositories or compiled by me.
3) Uniq different passwords on all sites that I use...

But it doesn't help me to save my character =(

Sadly that is the reason ppl get hacked in the 95+ percent of the cases i would say.

Also to exclude that possibility i posted in my previous post some to ideas that crossed my mind.

In the remote chance it is GGG's fault i'm sure they will work something out. Otherwise i doubt there will be a character restore.
