Anyone know if Rain of Arrows will insta-gib you shooting into a pack of lightning thorn mobs?

Depends on how many you fire before they land. If you fire 3 times, each will hit few Lightning thorns mobs before you even react you are taking reflected damage.
Also account for desynch. Just had a case where a guard did not had lightning thorns, I attack him few times before he has it - then bam I am almost dead because on server side he had Thorns effect on him already cast. Last edited by Kien#6624 on Apr 14, 2013, 6:35:45 AM

rain of arrows only hits once per action, so that most likely won't insta-gib you. now if you said lightning arrow with LMP and chain, yes that'll be more likely to insta-gib.

Do Lightning thorns require you to do damage in order to reflect? Or is it enough you "connect" with an attack? I am thinking specifically on dual totem builds where the character casts a spell in order to use elemental equilibrium, but do no damage?

Flat damage reflection, such as Lightning Thorns, occurs on hit regardless of damage.
As a side note, Elemental Equilibrium can only apply if you hit an enemy with elemental damage, so the build you describe can't work. EDIT: Since everyone's confused, I'll explicitly point out the part that can't work "Elemental Equilibrium is triggered by doing elemental damage, so you cannot do no damage and still trigger it. lightning thorn SUCKS !! that triggered lightning shot on the player doesn't give him to much of a chance :) it's wierd how the white blackguards mages can kill me from 3-4 lightning thorn , but i can kill them with 1-2 fp shots.IMO , they do too much damage in comparisson with their maximum hp ..

So what is the best way to fight mobs that use Lightning Thorns? Do traps work?
