No problem! Yeah I went quite in depth to make sure people knew exactly what the thought process behind it is.

I also plan on making a guide for crafting the perfect wand for this build, though I don't expect it to be any time soon.

The next thing on my list is to do a full write-up on the gem setup, rather than just show the gear with the gems in the items.

This just in, Herald of Thunder adds lightning damage to spells and attacks like Herald of Ice. So basically this build will get a huge damage boost by using both Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder.

This will be possible by using an Alpha's Howl for the other 8% reduced mana reservation and ridding of one of the utility spells (second curse, Smoke Mine, etc.). Personally I don't think I'll use both in my main character because my current helm is so defensively awesome, but I will use Herald of Thunder instead of Herald of Ice because the ability to shock enemies far outweighs some extra cold damage.

tl;dr: 50%+ damage boost to come.

Don't you overestimate shock stacks?

Says on the wiki 50% increased damage from all sources.

As you have like 40% projectile damage from tree and 100% spell damage from gear, the real boost would be ~20%.

Not such a huge increased compared to herald of ice which gives you flat damage and shattering damage.


I'll probably run both. Fuck i'm tired to put alpha on every char, but damn grace + double purity + double herald seems juicy.
"50% increased damage taken by enemies" is a multiplier to any damage. It isn't additive with "increased damage" and its variants. And if it was, it would be a lot worse than ~20% considering the increased damage modifiers on gear.

I say 50%+ because by shocking it's already 50% more, but the added damage will also include a hefty base damage boost. It's easily better than the added damage from Herald of Ice.

hmm. very innovative and creative build - good job.

this is why i love this game and most of its community. people really open their minds and figure out some amazing odd things that work amazingly well. you should freaking put this up for build of the week. very cool indeed.

I don't get it. Why isn't it written "50% more damage from any sources?" then?

EDIT:
Ok found the source. Works because it says "damage taken" so it's multiplied way after all the rest.

Thank you very much xMustard! It would be cool for this to become a Build of the Week though I'm not exactly aiming for it.

As for a video, I'll likely make one soon considering I have my rerolled character in high level maps now. I'm contemplating waiting until Herald of Thunder is released though, so there'll be a better showcase of the damage potential.

almost have enough currency for an acuity (holy shit finally). I took more aura nodes to run empower on my auras (or new herald :D) once i get acuity so I can get higher lightning fire resistance for uber attempt.

Atziri's Acuity should be really awesome man! It should completely negate elemental reflect issues, which is pretty insane. You'll also be able to replace any gear you're using for Intelligence (I'm looking at you, Havoc Eye Diamond Ring) so you can get a bunch of resistances. Let me know how the Uber Atziri attempt goes!
