The only fix for self-casting shock nova is, remove the inner dead zone.

I take it you didn't play PoE when the dead zone didn't exist. The skill was far more broken than Arc or SRS is currently.

Sure you could argue that by removing the dead zone and adjusting the damage the skill could be viable but not overpowered, but then again, that'd make it pretty much Ice Nova 2.0. At least now it has a unique mechanism, even if it isn't working that well.

Exactly. If they only buff damage, we'd get another Detonate Dead or Searing Bond, a ridiculously overpowered skill that everyone hates to use because of a clunky mechanic.


I have been saying it since forever, they should just lower the damage the closer the enemy is to the caster of shock nova, the dead center is just stupid.

I suggested a support gem that was kind of the opposite of knockback and didn't require hitting enemies for it to occur on them, and instead of pulling towards the caster it would pull towards the damaging area. The existence of such a mechanic would make the dead zone appealing as enemies within the dead zone would be pulled away from you.
