time to sacrifice your IIR shit for real items
The problem with the "real" items is that it only affects the characters survivability. This has nothing to do with IIR or anything. Currently snapshotting is the only mechanic that gets summoners up there with the other top tier builds. The summoner items are mostly just bad and since there are no rare explicits to buff your minions you are dependent on those shitty uniques to buff your summons. And even then - with insane snapshotting - you hit the glass ceiling way sooner than other builds. Once you snaphot with everything there is, that's it. Nothing more to do.
So what's the alternative? Minion stats on rare items? I guess that would clutter up the item system way beyond use. So i really don't know. But as it stands right now, there's no way to be competitive in endgame without snapshotting. To do damage with your minions you have to disproportionally sacrifice minion survivability and vice versa. Again, this has nothing to do with IIR.
I've played summoner all through Ambush now and yes I snapshotted like crazy. But now in the end i really tried to clear the endgame content without it. It's doable but not enjoyable. And I'm by no means poor. But what's the point in having all this currency, when there's just no way to get up there with the top tier builds? I guess the only alternative is rolling a different build. But that's just sad. Summoners are one of those traditional arpg elements i personally don't like to see downgraded to a third rate niche build for people who enjoy that one playstyle that's different from the others even if it sucks balls endgame.
Well that's just my 2 cents. Maybe I'm wrong and with the added incentive there will be someone making a whole new mind-blowing no-snapshot summoner build that is up there damage and survivability wise. But honestly... have you looked at the current passive tree? You grab all the summoner and aura nodes you can get. It's not rocket science.
tl;dr: what's up with daenerys effortlessly lifting those big-ass chains? Pipi Longstockings anyone?

You guys know more than endgame exists right? And that it's okay to have fun with a build for the first 70-80 levels?

I don't see it like that at all.
There is an exploited mechanic that GGG didn't intend holding back development of the game. If they felt they could design around it, I'm certain they'd leave it as is.
It's not about screwing players, it's about the future of the game for everyone, including snapshot exploiters. It's for the greater good!
No it's literally about a bunch of players in this game that are jealous of more successful players. So they have to blame one particular exploit for their lack of success and they think this one fix is somehow going to make things on a more "even playing field" or "fair". But that's not the case, and they'll continue to be inadequate.
What would instead be for "the greater good" is if GGG focused on fixing other issues in the game like map drop RNG and buffing certain skill gems and passive areas that are lacking. Or if they actually optimized the game such that players aren't getting 5-10 fps on palace dominus (or getting disconnected entirely when trying to enter the room).
Instead, GGG has a tendency to cater to the childish crybabies whining about something that doesn't really affect them (snapshotting). I guess they could continue to make more microtransactions for visual effects instead of improving the game itself, and see how the player base magically grows from these microtransactions.

GGG aren't "catering" to anyone but themselves. They have stated that they didn't like snapshotting since the beginning. You're aiming your blame in the incorrect direction.

that's called snap shotting cuz you're not using that body armour anymore-so no.
you'll have to use the blood magic gem to reserve auras on life.

Posted this also in the manifesto but figured it was worth mentioning here as well. You can't get 7-8 link spectres/zombies. The gems just don't seem to work that way. I've tested myself multiple times and multiple threads have proven it. Doing exactly as the video demonstrates all it does is remove the damage bonuses from trap/remote mine. I'm amazed you guys didn't know this.
