You view this as a mistake, but I believe they view it as part of their game design. They have stated that they intend to have powerful legacy items.

yea
just keep thinking back to Magic: The Gathering. Remember one of the core designers/producers/whatever was a professional MTG player.
legacy uniques = old cards that will never be reprinted that are banned in the new leagues, like moxes and black lotus, etc etc,

the build in my sig is still the best until they either reduce max resists again or turn romiras/protector/devotion to legacy.
That build does sub 2 minute 78 map clears on 6 man hp?
theres nothing saying you can't run lowlife based on the skeleton of this build. some of the first atziri farmers were running this combo without snapshot
studying for GGG's C++ technical exam...

Excellent analogy. Except the legacy uniques are not really banned except in New leagues I guess.

Played MtG for like 15ty years, had 5 of the P9 cards, sold them for alot. Still have duals, FoWs, etc....
Quit competetive M:tG because of the legacy non print bulshit.
PoE is exactly like M:tG.
You hav an illusion that you can do everything, later you realize that there are only few OP builds/decks which require tons of currency/money to build. Of course you can go kill monsters/try to craft/bye booster packs, in the end trading and flipping and bullshitting noobs and kiddies is always better.
New 4 months leagues = Standard format on MtG
Standard/HC league = Legacy/Vintage format in MtG.
Is it a bad thing for an ARPG to be exactly like a (nevertheless good) trading card game? Oh yeah.
Most Op Build? Of course the Spectral Throw low life snapshitting crap.
If they gonna nerf (again) my favorite builds (flicker strike) I am gonna try Detonate Dead in the new leagues, since my gear will be worthless (again).
Best man on forums? Poutsos.

I'm not sure about the better defenses part by a longshot, although a "melee only modifier" change to CoE would be a just change for you I'm assuming. I'm against all changes to gear already implemented for the record. Taking something away from people is always a drag.
Listening to people whine about other people enjoying themselves is also a drag. Seeing that CoE/Shavs whatever what have you, have no impact on pvp whatsoever.
No,CoE+Shavs are expensive,so they should clearly give some benefits. My main problem lies on spectral throw, the skill is not balanced.Offsceening mobs with 550DPS daggers with max crit is broken, and judging from GGG's history, will lead to nerfing daggers alltogether. That will not be an issue for me or for you,but CI melee on standard to be viable(not dying at 76-78 maps consistently),already has a bare minimum of 150 exalts.I mean i do not even know what to tell to people PMing me about the build.I am always...man just don;t try it,it's not worth it.Also i want top players, who are mainly interested in playing the most powerful thing there is to have options. As of now,low life spectral throw overshadows EVERYTHING by a long shot.It is the most OP thing that PoE EVER had.I never had any issues with sporkers, dischargers, freezing pulsers, aegis aurora users etc...
Anyway, the nerfs that i predict for the new rebalance are general low life, general auras, dagger passives, general crit, spectral throw spesific.I d be happy to be proven wrong, but i highly doubt it
they did buff the shadow tree in march, probably dagger passives? i dont remember, it would be hilarious if they would nerf again the shadow tree after buffing it 4months ago rofl
i dont understand why to nerf auras, without alpha's howl or prism guardian a life based character can run 2 auras at best, 3 with soul taker, 5 with ALL the mana reserved nodes, lowlife+shavronne, auras are more than 10, so you can run less than half auras with all the mana reserve nodes! where is the OP?
do you want people to use less auras? so most of people will just run 1 aura and everyone will be forced to play in party to not die in 1 second in maps.
auras are strong on low life spectral throw because the way they are used, increased aura effect, inner force, blood rage, mirrored amulets daggers rings shield all in a single build and everyone use offensive auras instead of defensive auras.
it's obvious that a character like low life st it's strong because you need 1000+exalted of gear, it's normal that its stronger than any other build because they cost less than st.
if you nerf auras, you nerf 80% of the builds, if you nerf st, no one will ever use st because it will remain an EXCLUSIVE skill to the most rich people of the game and new players will never use it because it wouldnt be strong enough if you are not rich

How did you manage to play for so long yet not comprehend why that is a good thing?
EDIT: and well with modern masters who knows they might be printed again, just never ever in a real set, thank god for that, that's what I thought you meant. Also one of the reasons they dont do that its because of the value of the cards and how pissed collectors would be.
However a few old legacy cards were given away in first print of an edition as secret prizes... think it was somewhere in Zendikar block. that is one exception they did. eeh, wait, not really, they werent reprints, just old cards they still had.
