Build of the Week: Season 2 Episode 7

This is the insta-disconnect build, the most hated in party-play. But it's nice.
I'm kinda glad this build is extremely expensive. Expensive => Rare => Shouldn't get nerfed. By extension, cheaper builds along the same lines should remain fun to play. Hoorah!

So, how about some budget BOTWs? :P

+1
There has to be a low point where some people stop complaining because it's just not worth it, and I have yet to see it. - Squeakypaw, 2013
I've said it before and will repeat it again: Please fix melee, melee is totally underpowered compared to builds like this

I suppose it's hard to live up to that standard, but this was disappointing. The build is clearly beyond most players' budget, and Chris failed to mention that once -- which surprised me, given how happy he was to talk about Invalesco's extremely expensive gear in an earlier BoTW and how 'ridiculous' it was, particularly one of his daggers. This oversight alone is going to give some players the illusion that this BOTW is attainable without what must have been a lot of farming and trading.

I don't mind extremely expensive, over-the-top BOTWs but I feel Chris really should have acknowledged that is what this is.

I agree this build is beyond most player budget, but..

For the Invalesco build, the only truly expensive items (iirc, i may be wrong) were the 6l belly and Bino's. Both were not a strict necessity for the build. His build could be done with 8-10 exalted in Invasion league, which is not that much. You woud have probably 40% less dps than him, but it's still doable.

This build is no exception. Instead of windripper you can grab a crit chance + attack speed thriket bow, you'll lose around 2.5% basic crit, 0.2 attack speed and the sweet IIR and IIQ bonus, but buid would still have sufficent crit chance to proc CoC decently and destroy everything.

This said, a new player like you said will feel a deep illusion when at level 80 he will not have his same (or close to) items, but any other experienced player will understand that those builds can be done with cheaper items with "almost" same results

Lastly, i would really like to see a BotW done with cheap uniques like:

They're 1080p - I can't record any higher than that easily. What resolution would you like?

Detail like that often gets cut for time (I'm trying really hard to keep them short, and I try to avoid repeating points I've made about other builds in the past). This one was one of those elements that was cut. Sorry!

Throw a quick thing in the description:

Minimal - Very Low - Low - Average - High - Very High - Extreme

Cost: Extreme
Offence: Extreme
Defence: Minimal

Also, what are the "tombstones" that are showing up when the enemies are being killed in the video? By "tombstone" I mean the symbols that appear above the dead enemies that look like the same symbol that shows up in the middle when tempest shield is active.

It's the 4% life regen bonus from gifts from above.

Agree. I am a CoC player, so I know how costly and squishy a CoC bow build is. Dagger can be a bit cheaper. Wand...it's hard to say, but at least cheaper in term of weapon.

Anyway, build of the week is just for marketing purpose. It's okay that it has some high-cost build. Just keeping the current pace that most build are poor-friendly (like the last two), while a few of the build can be the high-end one.

youre thinking of gorathas dagger build with a 6 link lightning coil, invalescos dagger build was a previous episode.

funny enough invalescos dagger was nowhere near as good as a binos, but then I think it was closed beta? The gear levels were different then. Actually the strength of the daggers against monsters was probably the same though so ya...

really good episode I liked it.
I just started a similar build 3 days ago and I'm loving it. Even though it's a ranger, the skill tree is almost the same. Only if I could affor a Windripper :(
