Path of Exile on the Gameplanet Show podcast
I watched the seminar that Jonathan gave regarding random level generation that was referenced in the podcast. It was quite interested and at the time very much helped me when playing in CB. While the details were always random, I knew that all I had to do to find the tree roots was cross the first river and head north.
Now that OB has hit though its pretty clear that the algorithm that creates the maps has been much improved. Obviously many more tiles to pull from, but I think it also added what I think of as a rotational factor to the maps. Whereas all were previously played from a single viewpoint, it now seems almost like the point of view changes a bit each time a zone is generated. Makes it much harder to get your bearings... which is a good thing. In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.

Congratulations Chris! I'm glad you had to opportunity to be on the show finally :)!
When I have extra time I'll listen to the entire thing! "Contrariwise," continued Tweedledee, "if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic." - Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

This is on purpose, because the news page only shows the first paragraph and doesn't display my name. Thank you for bringing it up, I was waiting to reply to clarify this.
Chris, you should definitely start referring to yourself in the third person. (on the forums, at least) Good interview I enjoyed listening to it. That part about some people not knowing Kiwis were real had me laughing because.... I didn't know they were real until a few months ago :D
I think its more personal if he is referring to him self in the first form. And that is what makes GGG special, the dialog with the community. You have to remember to chase and catch your dreams, because if you don't, your imagination will live in empty spaces, and that's nowhere land.
