[Official] WINE info thread

thanks for the response. i'll give those suggestions a try this evening.

when i do boot to Windows 10 and play POE, the only time i encounter any lag is on Beachhead during the final boss fight. other than that, zero lag and no noticeable FPS drop.
i just did the 'winetricks glsl=disabled' and that has made a huge difference! i just did a quick master mission (Vagan) against the dummies with the ring of fire - FPS never dropped below 55!

last time FPS was hovering around 3.

later, i will test it on a more busy map/area and report back.

odd thing though. i have no options by which i can make adjustments to the POE config (video card memory and such). it is still using DX9, and its just fine honestly. i don't need all the special visual effects. if the performed improves, then i'd go through the effort to get it working with DX11.

again, thanks for the tip!
Got a new nvidia driver today on Peppermint. 3.84

Seems to run better

Yeah, nice to hear that. In fact, if you disable GLSL you can no longer use dx11 as it requires GLSL.

You could try to change things in the config file.
Hey there,
As Wine has improved we can now play poe smooth without much trouble. Dx11 does not work yet but as stated before me, it may come soon. 64 bit works like a charm. I made a full guide to get poe running smooth with Wine at the poe sub:

https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/7fkwwj/guide_to_play_poe_on_linux_with_64bit_and_dx9/?st=jagcdzw7&sh=23505845

If anyone needs help, I will give support over the next days with setting up poe on linux with a 64 bit prefix.
for anyone who might be hitting similar issue

tried to run PoE 3.0.3b on Lenovo T450s with Indel HD 5500 and DX9, OS Fedora 25 (Xserver, not wayland), wine 2.19 staging, CSMT enabled . I was able to load main menu, log in, create character and press 'play' and then the game was hanging on map loading and eventually crashed with numerous D3D9 errors like this

"
exception in source code file ..\DeviceD3D9\DeviceD3D9.cpp at line 780 error D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE

disabling GLSL was making things even worse - main menu was not loading at all

after banging my head against the wall for nearly a day, I seem to have found the solution after all:

# winetricks vcrun2010 usp10
# dnf install libtxc_dxtn libtxc_dxtn.i686 mesa-libGL.i686 mesa-libGLU.i686 mesa-libGLES.i686

libtxc_dxtn* come from rpmfusion
mesa-libGL* and wine* come from Fedora 25 repos

hope this helps someone to save some time and nerve
