edit update : I will follow Jake's aura setup for now.

edit 2 : I was testing my rainbowstrides auras with empower here (Aura Group 3):

1. To simulate +1 rainbow and 21 reduced mana, I used lvl 22. with empower left 102 mana.
2. I use clean rainbow and 20 reduced mana, with empower left 72 mana.
3. I use clean rainbow and 20 reduced mana, swap empower with herald of Ash, left 87 mana.
4. I use clean rainbow and 20 reduced mana, no empower and herald of ash, left 248 mana.

How does other people's mana like look if u are running similar to Jake's? My mana is comfortable if I take out empower. I also swapped in heralds of ash for empower, 15 more mana only but still oom.

+1 rainbowstrides seem daunting to spend on in my case. Also must it be corrupted legacy rainbowstrides? Would the newer +1 rainbowstrides work?

I haven't finished tweaking my latest pve setup since the addition of HoT but you've got the setup right -

I think (iirc) we found that Hatred was winning vs HoI + HoA by a little bit, but now that we have HoT available the double herald beats Hatred on dps. (I think dropping Ash) HoT flat damage is just really high.


last time I talked to him Lawyne was at just over 100k gmp/chain @lvl 97 using our aura setup, and using HoT. Not sure if his HoT was 21/20 yet.

I would probably be 3-4k above that due to the +1 gems Acuity. With 3 more skill points could also add a good chunk as the last points to take are crit multi nodes.


It's good to be finally back over that 100k mark... (and potentially almost/near 110k if I went to lvl100) we've really closed the gap vs the BM versions. afaik they can't just add HoT either, they have to drop HoI for it, so their dps gain is not greater than ours from the new gem.

100k is with lvl 98, I made this SS with 97 by taking the main ES node (missing ~400 ES) for tests, and HoT is 21/20.

Now with 98 enjoying full ES and 100k but HAVE TO swap WED for Lifeleech if I wanna run Ele Reflect maps without risks. Reflection Mods in normal Maps are still no issue

Unreserved mana with Legacy Rainbow is 162 @98. New ones would be about 140

Lvl 100 wont be that a big win, it is 105k with perfect gems, I think I will put last 2 points in ES to aim for 6,5k... Remember that u still gain Haste+Hatred in party mode.

I think BM could run all 3 Heralds and still have enough Life left for sustaining PS, but I'm not sure. that would add about 10k dps again by HoT. Well, I won't try to improve Skyforth's or Fyndel's BM builds since I dont like BM...


For Witch @lvl 100 with Acuity and +1 Legacy Rainbowstride this is the optimal tree I think:



this would go for: (with my Gear I use on the Scion)
DPS: ~100k
ES: ~6,5k
Mana left: ~155

tested this on my lvl 95 Witch and was pretty impressed (actually there was no need to reroll a Scion now that Herald of Thunder came out. Wished they had released it with 1.2.0 -.-)

Bandits: 8% all Res, Passive, Powercharge

So Buffs & Auras are: (all 21 if possible)

RM + BM + Discipline + Clarity

RM + HoI + HoT

RM + Empower + Wrath + Anger

Blood Rage + Blood Magic + Enhance + AA

try to get 90 asap and +1 rainbows (maybe u can run 2x 60% Auras on life + link Bloodrage with q20 Blood Magic due to the extra life nodes on the way to Vaal Pact, test it! I dont have any regrets left to do that myself -> this would free up more unreserved Mana again)

I hope u got ur resistances already capped?

With this Aura setup u have a 3L left for CWDT + EC + IC, so AA is only good for reflect monsters and MS. AA doesnt need lvl 21 (nice to have ofc), more important is the additional MS

1. Yea, I am running 20/20 BM with bloodrage and it's sick. lvl 4 enhance will be a beast too.

2. Yes, I left 3L for cwdt+ic+ec.

3. I need to run purity to cap my res, cos rings are pretty hard to meet all the specifications. Currently my rings are combined 30% res all + 40 cold + 40 fire. However, I just need another 30ish res all to drop purity which means my shield needs +15% res all and one of the rings need to have implicit mod res all, on top of +15res/40 main res/ wed / mana regen lol. It's pretty tight if you can't opt for the mirror ring.

4. I tried vaal pact, let's just say its pretty bad if you dont have a higher pdps wand. :\


Thanks for the extended build, I was doing some re-calculations and if I put 2 x 60% mana reservation on +1 rainbowstride, my mana reservation would sort of fix itself and adding empower or another herald aura will work. The drawback is i can't do lvl4 empower on anger and wrath together. It has to be anger or wrath paired with any other auras, and I think discipline is the next ideal.

I am currently doing

discipline + clarity on life
anger + wrath
herald of ice + purity

which has similar reservations to Jake's. I also maxed out passive tree reservation nodes. Thing is if I put empowered with +1 boots which I simulated with a "lvl 22 reduced mana", I'll only have 102 free mana according to the aura calculator. Currently its about 66mana for power siphon and I'll oom rather quickly. :\
Wonder how else I can tweak or add?

@jake, what's your free mana after the reservation?



Update : I see the problem now, purity runs on 40%(18%) while heralds on 25%(11%). So I lost about 7% of free mana. 7% result in 102 free mana to 216 free mana which is huge. -_-"
