[2.0] SAM's 48K RoA/Split Arrow + Puncture/Evasion + Herald of Ash

Ok. I've got CE in there now, and i'm adjusting to the radius. :)

A few more questions: I recently managed to get overcapped for resists by a huge amount (picked up a decent tri-res chest piece and a quiver, so I am able to swap out my helmet (i'd do my ring but it's got my mana leech on it, and I can't quite swing the blood magic yet). I seem to have 2 choices:

either Rat's nest or Alpha's Howl. Rats nest gives a very nice dps increase, but getting the right color sockets on either of them is going to be a bastard, so i'm aiming to figure out which would be better long term. I got both of them quite cheaply (well, for all I know I overpaid vastly, but it doesn't feel like it)

So: how overcapped should I be resistance wise? - even without wearing a helm, i'm +85 in all resists in merciless (cept chaos, where i'm awful of course).

So far, only phys reflect poses a problem, and that may be due to my cwdt being messed up.

I seem to be able to get through 68 maps with few problems, trying to build my 69's to a point where i'm comfortable running them.

Finally, am I going about this all wrong, in that I should be aiming for something else in the head slot and focusing on getting better somewhere else?

All in all, my 77 ranger feels quite fun to play.
@P1mento For your case, it depends if you want to take the reduced Aura Cost nodes in the tree. With Alpha's, I believe you can run Grace and Hatred together without the nodes (I might be wrong) and thus save some points for elsewhere. The better DPS choice will definitely be Rat's Nest though but that's a pretty big hit to survivability.

I personally use neither, and go with a Tri-res + Life rare with a decent amount of Eva. Remember that CWDT has a gem level limit to what it can trigger. You can take a look at my gear and gem links on the first post for an idea of how I use it :)

I'm level 74 using this build right now, but it seems like my RoA damage is sort of low. I followed your skill tree exactly, and I am using RoA+LL+BM+Phys Projectile Damage+faster attacks, and my bow is decent I think

but I still only have 4.1k dps with RoA, even using hatred+herald of ash. Any advice on improving my dps? Thanks!

I can only add the advice I got from this thread: make sure you have +phys items (% is nice, but flat +physical damage is much better) on as many slots as you can without dropping your resist cap. like +5-10 physical on your rings, or neck, ect. The bow sure looks nice to my eye.

I'd link the rings i'm using, because even the 5-12 or 6-14 + physical damage they have on them is a huge bump but I just shut down for the day.

Rustic sash too. It all adds up.

Then again, im horrifyingly new to this. Still trying to figure out how to manage map resources to continue leveling!

cheers.

Hi! Flat physical modifiers as well as Crit Chance/Multi can have a huge difference in DPS. That one remaining link in your RoA combo is also Concentrated Effect which boosts damage by quite a bit! Absolute DPS numbers don't matter so much as the effectiveness of the playstyle + build :)

Carcass Jack would be a great addition to the build if you can live with the lack of resists and Life on it compared to a rare. With very very good pieces everywhere else, you can gain the pros of a CJ while inheriting none of the drawbacks!

Just wanted to say i've now converted my Scion into this build as well. I was stuck hating my old summoner (I never did the snapshot thing and still found it hard to clear bosses) so I actually modded my way into the tree. I now swap gear between both my ranger and my Scion, and I love this stuff.

Link, I'd buy you a drink, but I suspect we are in different time zones... possibly different continents :)

It is hard to gear past a certain point though. My costs went from the 1-2 ex mark up to the 20+ per item upgrade. Maybe someday :)

Until then, i'll keep grinding out my starter maps and see what happens!

I have a quiestion..why not just use CWDT+Immortal Call+Enduring Cry+Enfeeble? you can save an entire link in that way if im not wrong?

Thanks!

That way, I cannot link Increased AoA as well as Inc Duration :D

@P1mento

We are most definitely in at least a different country, and in all likeliness different continents :P Gearing does take a sharp curve upwards past a certain point, but slowly you'll make it :D
