[1.2] Oldschool, cheap and noobfriendly "Sword&Board" Marauder
Also, I'd suggest giving iron reflexes a try

Hi, first i'd like to thank you for the great guide, it is extremley helpful for a new player like me. Atm i have a lvl 48 marauder, and things go really well, but i have a question, a friend gave me the Molten Strike gem which seems to do much higher dps than Reave, is there a reason why you prefer to use the latter ?

Got one question:
by holding down right-click for Reave, I notice that my life regeneration can't compensate for constantly doing Reave. So if I were to hold down right mouse button for 1 minute, doing Reave, I would die because life regen isn't high enough. Is this a problem? Of course, this can happen only if I do it for no reason (like, in Eternal laboratory). When battling monsters, the life regen is no problem. Last edited by anvilgod on Jul 11, 2014, 1:31:46 PM

" "Hey look, if I dont use any items and walk into a map, I'll probably die. Will this be a problem?" You write it yourself, it is no problem. Of course not. -.- " You can use whatever skill you want. If you like MS more, then use it. To me, Molten Strike is one of those "hey! look! i can make the world burn!" crazy effect bullshit skills, that I will not use simply because I hate the effects. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

So why not take iron reflex in this build?

Somewhere in the guide...
" Imho (and that really is only an "imho") Iron Reflexes is overrated. Armor protection against normal attacks is more than enough without it, and against the bigger hits, I pop my granite flasks anyways. Evasion on the other hand is underrated, I feel like the 20% Evasion I have is actually better than "evading 1 out of 5 hits" (maybe because as a Lvl 85 char, you will not meet lvl 85 monsters, so the math is behind the stat is off). I played with both IR and without it, and I felt equally protected. So the logical choice is to drop IR, as it saves skillpoints that can be invested in life or damage. Also remember we are talking 70+% block here. So your armor/evasion is only relevant against 1 out of 4 attacks. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519 Last edited by Peterlerock on Jul 13, 2014, 5:06:32 AM

" Oops sorry about that. Just to share. I'm 2 points away from IR, I might take it to take advantage of this Chinese looking armor PoE-TradeMacro - https://github.com/PoE-TradeMacro/POE-TradeMacro/

If you want to, you can use it, of course. You can also spec in and out of Iron Reflexes at any given time.
But, on a side note: I would not try to craft 5-6 Links on that armor. It's nice, but not worth the effort. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

Hello, decided to leave an update on char progress (lvl 84)
My resists are all around 100% (except lightning, I left it at 80 since my caps are 76%). Bought a few stuff and stats currently sitting at: 22.6k DPS (with hatred) 9.9k def (with determination) 4.6k HP 64% block Doing fine at 72-74 maps, but some spell monsters literally drain out my HP in seconds. | |
Will definetaly test this in the new Leagues which will come up soon. Thank you for writing this.
