The thing is, you will never have solid proof, partly because you're wrong, and partly because I'm not claiming that your method won't eventually lead to getting a rod after an average of many thousands of hours of farming. I'm just saying my way is much better and more reliable. I'm backed up by people who have found a bunch of rods, and so far you're on your own. Maybe you should give it a try before being so critical? It might help you get another one faster :)

Edit: I use a spork. If it's too big I'll end up stabbing myself in the tongue.

You're confused. My post history will show that I've consistently said that the easiest way to get a feather is to buy one, and I stand by that advice. Yes, feathers and rods are clearly connected, but that doesn't mean that what works for one will work for the other, and I've never said it would.

And yes, I totally get it. You don't care about fishing at all, you're totally not jelly, you've just spent the last few pages arguing the point to show just how little you care about it, because that's the logical thing to do when you don't care about something. Amirite?

My guess is you either got told by someone who thought he knew, or who actually did know but only told you the version which allows for the possibility, without telling you the rest. In any case, you're wrong, it's pretty much been proven already. There is no shit stirring, only fishing.

Edit: Just so you know, most people reading this still think you're as full of crap as they think I am. Don't think that your story is all that more believable than mine. If a tricorne can make an item drop, then why can't an eternal or #jabberjawsyoloswag increase the chances of it happening?

For someone who claims to have looked at my post history and done research into fishing, you sure don't seem to know very much. I first eternalled a Tricorne many, many months ago, as did others, before any of these rods were linked. It's a thing that people were trying, I don't know who started it, but it wasn't me. Jabberjaws predates my poexistance. When I first joined the game, there was a thread about him and fishing rods, with a screenshot from Chris. I spent hours and hours and hours farming for jabberjaws at a time when he may or may not have actually existed in game. The idea that a jabberjaws reference would be built into poe fishing mechanics is more of a foregone conclusion than a random guess.

so who started eternaling a tricorne and why? im sure a dev gave a hint.

Devs have given lots of hints over the years, like I said Chris even posted a screenshot of himself fishing, and he even had a fish in his inventory. Honestly, that in itself got me to spend hours and hours searching for jabberjaws back in closed beta, 100% srs. I had an epiphany after a few days, followed by a moment of rage, followed by hysterical laughter which has continued ever since.

No. I think there was some dev post somewhere ages ago suggesting that you had to do something similar. I just tried variations of what other people were doing. I was more persistant than most, because I was the only one who actually believed in it.
