Achievement Design

A fun one for a change :D

1000 ways to die - just die 1000 times across your charaters
Still I find clear full area's really a waste of time and space in the game, imho these are way more boring than killing 1000, 10.000 or even a million zombies. I'd go kill 1000 zombies right now but I refuse to go looking for the last zombie on the map, do you understand whan I'm saying?
If I go for any achievement it will rather be killing X amount of X types than making an absurd build to get 'Overcharged' for example. While the idea is cool, there is no normal build that would ever use 5 of each charge, so that's not playing the game in the right way :p

'Join a public party'. These are the worst achievements ever. I really really hate playing in pug's, it makes no sense ! So to get the achievement I would need to join a group and then ninja leave again ;) A better a achievement would be the opposite : you lose the achievement when you join a pug, especially in hardcore.

Anyway some small ideas :
'Underwhelming : find 4 lower level maps in the map you are playing.'
'Overwhelming : find 3 higher level maps in the map you are playing.'

One could also make achievements for playing in a groupd with only selffound players but i guess that would be rather difficult to check so I would start with the following:

Not necessarily, and actually joining parties after starting on self found could be possible with some tweaks and limitations (just need to make sure invitations happen across games with "iron man" -status active), that still makes things more complicated.

Simple way would be to always trigger "Iron man" status when you head out of town without any equipment on you and inventory empty (wisdom scrolls could make an exception but I don't see that they have to). Additionally every time you start off an fresh character this status could be given too (thus starting out fresh at level 1 gives you benefit for guaranteedly getting one skill drop and some weapons that fit).

This state would just be cancelled if you bought something off the vendors or accepted quest rewards, actually it would be pretty simple to add confirmation query when such action was about to take place which would cancel the event/status so player would be asked "Do you want to forfeit your iron man challenge? yes/no" This way the whole challenge/achievement thing could be handled with one timer/state indicator which expires on certain non-allowed events.

Today I've been mostly harmless.
Play 10 hours without interruption would be cool achievment :-)
Playing marauder @ Hardcore leagues

Suggestions:

1. Don't go Blizzard's way and make achievements for scratching my nose.

2. Don't go Blizzard's way and make mundane achievements like go brush your teeth or count 1000 sheeps.

3. Add unique optional bosses in every map (Fellshrine, Cavens X lvl 1, etc)
+ achievement for killing them in merciless diff. No need to spam 3 tiers of achies for each difficulty

4. If you can track map mods account wide: full clear maps with this mods...

5. If you can track map mods account wide: full clear maps with this combination of 2 mods...
- good luck clearing no regen maps, blood magic and so on xD
- to avoid abuse I'd suggest that player must have witness 85% of map's kills or do this amount of dmg. something.

6. A tracker/achievemtn for every rogue exile that you have killed (and best level it was)
- say, Xandro Blooddrinker (66)

7. After a set of achievements reward us something. A pet, alternate 3d-art item etc.

E: some silly ones:
8. considering point "2.", vendor 1000 rare items. xD

9. Catch an unique fish. this one is ezypzy. newbs don't know how hard it was once.

At first I would like to see a sorted achivement table, at the moment I can't figure out any kind of sorting at all. By name or by date sorting would be nice, including last achivement you've got. I often search for the achivement I got at last, the list is not very clever designed. Add a thumbnail bar at the bottom like Blizzard did in D3 where your last achivements are listed.
I agree, if you want to improve achievements, one thing will be to add special achievements rewards, like a new forum avatar available, a weapon or armor visual effect, an unique item, a pet, things like that.
Some other ideas, like :
bears hunter : kill 1000 bears (reward : a special bear avatar, a bear unique item, a bear pet and a bear beer :),
zombies hunter : kill 1000 zombies (reward : a special zombie avatar, a zombie unique item, a zombie pet and a zombie's blood flask) (I think hunter achievements are interesting)

I think you should add Get Exotic fish achievement. Get 100points in one season.

Just realized that I not first with exotic fish one.

I would write achievements on the last place on GGG to-do list. But oh well, whatever..
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?

so it's will be sad to die, but... you unlocked new achivement! :))

I like this idea, but refined:

Die in HC/nemesis at Dominus:

"Exiled!" - you have been sent in exile. *ressurects* on the beach act1 normal, with face in sand
