Nemesis One Week Race
hi. I was very interested in one race weekend. Just when I go check the price paid I laughed. I would look at and would enjoy the treams of top players. you have any interest to give more consideration to the most casual of us. I speak for casual have about 4 hours of play per day :)
I understand that you have to be careful what you do. Not to hurt the hardcore gamer that make the solid foundation of community poe. But I'm sure you can do something for us |

" this is the proper way to complain about not getting enough hand-holding and spoon-feeding of unearned loots. This seems to be a philosophical difference between types of people who play not just POE but video games and likely real life approach as well. I'm personally new to this game as of around a month ago, and I'll not be playing this race in a group as i know I'm nowhere near good enough at this tremendously complex game as of yet. I'm not about to go and join a PUG and not carry my own weight in the progress of said group. I will be playing this race SOLO, however, as a gauge of my progress in my application of my knowledge of POE as it grows everytime I play. The combining of the totems and the nemesis buffs on packs of elites and rare mobs sounds like a hell of alot of challenge/fun to me. I realize that many people out there would prefer to roll their faces across their keyboards for 5 minutes and have uniques fall from the heavens into their inventories in POE and any other games and in life also, but when was par for the course ever what we strove toward? I know that our so called 'modern' 'western' society promotes an 'easier and more is always better' point of view, but par for the course is garbage. imo. If you have always looked on this game as a search for bomb-ass lewts only, I suggest you give this race a try- but do so with the objective of improving your proficiency at the game rather than searching for handouts from scoring in the top tiers. I personally find that to be a much more rewarding experience, and if you're playing POE- you most likely aren't here in the game for worldoffaggotcraft easymode; and as such you may find that more difficulty in an already difficult game might bring you some cloth-pulling whiteknuckle adrenaline-filled moments that you won't soon forget. This rant of marathon proportions ends here :) I hope you all have a blast in the race. I will |

" I can't help to put my two cents in here. You submit panaeolus's concerns were raised 'properly' yet you go on to question his character and more for the rest of your post. I submit you might be looking at this subject backwards. He might very will be a responsible person with many things going on in his life where he simply cannot compete with people who can devote 12hrs+/day on a video game. What he is asking, I think, is... could there also be events/prizes for 'normal' people who might have full time jobs, school, responsibilities? He is accepting game like this will always be dominated by people who seem to make a career out of playing them, and he has no issue with that. he is requesting GGG to look at ways to reward 'normal people' as well, competing against other 'normal people' that would not take away form the 'hardcore' folks experience. Ideas that might accomplish this: 1. Top 'x' players get demi-god items, super. How bout also top 'y' players get a much smaller reward... say 1ex for the top 10% of finishers? 1c for the top 25%... something. 2. Have a ladder that is time based. Meaning, something like... each day for the first 4hrs you get 100xp. every hour you play beyond that lowers your xp for that day by 10%. Of course keep existing ladders as well. Players who only play 4hrs/day could play in one, people who want to be in the same ladder as others could play in another. Could also time bank it... meaning if you don't 'use your minutes' they rollover to the next day. I really dont think looking at someone who wants to feel the competitiveness of multiplay but also realizes unless he quits his job and devotes his life to a game he wont ever be in the 'top' .. and asking to look at solutions that would give him a competiveness within his own lvl of player base.. is cause to question is life choices.... Lastly, there is a huge difference in my mind between wanting a game nerfed and asking for a way to also have that competitve/rewarding feel without devoting every waking moment to a game. Just like sports have different leagues, games can too, and not hurt anyone's experience. Looks like 40 people will be rewarded in this tourney; I'd bet most if not all of these toon will be played by multiple people basically leveling that toon 24hrs/day... by groups who already mapped out exactly how they are going to go about things. That's wonderful for them... its also not 'rewarding' for the droves of folks who will be working tomorrow, or going to school. I don't think having smaller prizes for just plain folks is evil. I'm gonna be so slow and safe in this race. I'm not leaving Mud Flats till I'm level 20.

Can anyone confirm whether the usual top prizes will be given to top players by each class, or is this race only giving those top-40 players demigod's touches?

There were plenty of events during the last race season that had prizes for us more casual players.
I likely won't be playing this one as there's not much point for one as slow as myself, but I would object to anyone implying that GGG doesn't care about non-hardcore players. Sometimes the doing of a thing is the only reason you need.

" dangit. yea I had a feeling that my words might be read as some sort of attack on the poster after I posted and it seems that did happen. please don't misinterpret my post as an assault of any kind on people that just play casually or limited time available to play. My intention is to point out that there's a LOT more to gaming than getting new loot and (maybe) getting to be one of the top players in the game. And my salute to the poster still stands as his post was well written, concise, and unassuming. I do, however, have an issue with people who come from the easymode crap titiles that pass for video games in today's market and expect that they'll change a REALLY FACKING GOOD GAME into whack-a-mole and get 99 pieces of ubergear. Those people can kindly go back to noob island in whatever all u can eat buffet of a gear whoring tird game they came from. :) This is my opinion, and it's going to be very difficult to change. I care not for the niceties and protocols of 'lets all play nice together' forums, I just say what I think. You and anyone else can take it or leave it. I appreciate your response, however, as u give me an opportunity to see that my wording came out a bit sideways. I was not downing on panaeolus when I posted, so please forgive me if it seemed that I was to you. Everyone has their own life and situation to operate within, not everyone is a good gamer, not everyone has time to devote to a game to get proficient at it, but my issue is only with people who come from the pig pen and think they should shake the shit off their clothing all over whatever new game they've moved to. I've watched as amazing games have been nerfed, castrated, and finally flushed down the proverbial crapper all because whiny bitches cried and cried in the forums and in game until the devs go ahead and kill the game in ATTEMPT to please people who will simply never be satisfied with ANY gaming situation because... well, because they just suck at life. An example of this is what it's looking like ESO is doing badly currently- trying to please too many people and leaving everyone dissatisfied (agree or no, there's a scores of other examples) I would much prefer to see some games come out where, instead of devs playing whack-a-mole attempting to satisfy every whim of every insatiable baddie, they go thru the alpha, beta, open betas and go back and forth to get the game polished up for the players- and then never change anything but content updates and the occasional fix for the things that slipped through the cracks in the testing process. I see all these posts with people crying for hand outs and it brings back bad memories of WoW bads coming in to great new titles and ruining them with their thumb-sucking and incessant bitching about EVERYTHING that's different than their pig pen they came from. Im not calling you or pana bads, or anyone else in particular in this thread, I'm just hoping someone might read through all the posts and see that maybe a paradigm shift in their gaming goals could make themselves and everyone else in the game happier. I'm an opinionated dude, and will always be; and I like to use strong language as well, so maybe a PG13 sticker should go under my name, but I don't choose to waste anyone's time with bullshitting or dancing about the outskirts of my point. GGG has done an awesome job of making this amazingly complex game accessible to anyone, and the last thing I want to see is another great game get watered down to spoon-feed the lowest common denominator. IF you don't like long posts- here's the cliff's notes version: WoW= BAD POE= GOOD lets have fun racing! |

I'm still curious as to whether it's been confirmed that there are no other prizes than the demigod's touch. My main question is whether there will be a prize for the top of each class.
