[1.2.x] Oos' Crit Dagger Capped Block Ranger (Reave / Flicker / Double Strike) Acrobatics or IR

So i bought Aegis Aurora cuz i want to test how it will be with that shield

My current tree at lv 82

My current gears and gems:
Spoiler

With BoR, its really really hard to cap all res, i have to switch things around just to get my res cap, but i lose 600 hp and my Chaos res is now -60% and i can do NOTHING about it when using BoR
I lose 6k dps (22k -> 16k) after spec out of Adder's Touch)
The shield is OP, but to make it work better, i would need much better jewelries to raise my res/health

My current stats with Aegis Aurora:
16k dps with Reave
4k hp / 295 ES
71% block with Hatred/Tempest Shield
75/80/75/-60 with dps amulet, lower if use Stone of Lazhwar

My thought about the shield: I prefer Perandus with Stone, cuz it will make the itemization much cheaper (no worry bout leech on jewelries and 80 life is pretty good) and the dps will be higher too

Aegis would be a better choice ONLY IF I had enough currencies to buy 2 rings and belt with decent life/res rolls

I intend to drop the gloves and replace it with a eva or eva/es with res/life so i can permanently use Stone of Lahzwar. It will drop my dps by alot, but my survivability will be much higher, any thoughts on that?

---------------------------------------------------
Update: I switched Maligaros for these gloves then use Stone of Lahzwar permanently:
Spoiler

I now have all 3 res 75/80/75 and (-60 chaos)
My hp is now 4k2 and 333 ES, my survivability is now very exceptional (as long as theres no chaos damage) - can just afk and watch the Champions die by my Tempest Shield in front of Dominus' eyes :)

My dps dropped from 22k to 13k, but I think im happy with this setup and I may change gears for higher dps when I reach higher lvl

Interesting post, thanks. I think you need more ES really, ideally swapping out one slot for a pure ES piece; but obviously resists is a problem with BoR. Seems like a very hard build to gear for but at least you're happy with it.
You could probably replace you Ruby ring with another leech ring, might be possible yo get some phys/hp/leech ring instead.

Keep me updated with how the build is going, dunno what else to suggest :D
IGN: @Oos
Hey mate, my friend saw me following your build and was really impressed by my damage output at level 80 (even in a 6 man party in 78 maps) but asked me if the build could be modified into a spectral throw variant. I was looking at the passive tree and there really was not too many melee nodes that needed to be removed/changed to still have almost exactly the same tree, but not waste any points. I tried out spec throwing with my current build (following your IR version) and it felt really strong, and even safer! Not that I felt unsafe before, but the ability to be ranged is really nice for those who like the playstyle. My gems aren't high enough level to make an accurate DPS comparison, but I was wondering what you thought about the idea of going physical crit ST instead with this build?

I was thinking of running:

Helm: Alpha's Howl (Red Mana + Grace + Hatred + ____ )

Dagger: Bino's is really nice, but I think with spectral throw, I'd be wasting the insane regen effect we talked about earlier. I think I would just go a nice rare instead in this slot.

Shield: Crest of Perandus is still a great choice in this slot, especially with the innate life leech.

Chest: A 5L or 6L Daresso's Defiance is really appealing, especially with the additional dodge chance, life leech, and having free endurance charges up for a CWDT + Immortal Call proc if I ever take damage. That being said, Daresso's might be a bit overkill with how crazy safe this build is already. Instead preferring to go with a nice 5L/6L EV/HP/Tri-res rare in this case.

Gloves: Maligaro's is again a great choice.

Boots: Nice rares in this slot I think, EV/Life/Res/MS.

Belt and Jewlery: Life/Resists/Phys/Crit Chance & Mult.

I did, however, had questions about what you think an optimal gem setup would be.

Was thinking along the lines of:
Spectral Throw + LMP + Added Fire + Inc Crit Mult + Inc Crit Chance + Faster Attacks?
Or perhaps PCoC would be stronger?

Anyways sorry for the wall of text or if this has been already suggested, love the guide and of course all credit is yours. Linked below is the IR build with a few tweaks, let me know what you think man!

Hey there.

I ran a crit dagger ST build in Nemesis up to level 91 before dying, it's extremely strong. I used Lightning Coil chest so that I didn't need to invest many points into defense. I also picked up aura nodes and EB, so I ran Hatred/Purity of Lighting (for Lightning Coil) and a low level clarity. I think EB is needed for ST because of the lower leech rate and higher cost of the skill.

Here's my items and gear:

Your tree looks solid, similar to mine but no EB/Aura nodes, and you get Acrobatics and block instead. You may run into mana problems that's the only thing. I could do no-regen maps with just the 2% mana leech, but I had a large unreserved mana pool due to the aura nodes.

My links were: ST / LMP / Faster Attacks / Physical Projectile Damage / Crit Damage / Life Gain on Hit. You can swap out LGoH for Added Fire/Crit Chance if you want (you need Life Leech on gear of course) but I loved being at full life all the time with LGoH, and the damage was good enough anyway. I guess if you use Bino's Kitchen Knife then you wont need LGoH or even LL on gear.

If you do your tree you should definitely pick up Ballistic Mastery, the projectile speed is very nice.
Overall I think your tree is good, but when going ST you need more nodes for Flaying and Ondar's Guille etc, so you have to drop block or something. This is why I chose to go Lightning Coil because otherwise it's far too many points.

---

edit: thinking about it, mana should be fine as long as you get a mana roll on boots/ring or something, you're using Alpha's Howl too so should be alright. You just might need to get capped block at 90+

I'd do your tree like this, getting the 2% block nodes last.

Also, use Frenzy with Power Charge on Crit for single target, buffs Spectral Throw really nicely.

Let me know how it goes if you decide to play it.

Brilliant, thanks for the response! It's not for me but for one of my friends that liked how my character for your reave build turned out and wanted to tweak it for spectral throw. Now that I see how nice this looks I might have to respec and try it out for myself! Will let you know if he decides to roll the spec throw build and how the respec turns out, thanks a million!
I think I've done enough testings, so I'll give some thoughts about Aegis Aurora and the build itself ^_^

Keep in mind that I'm using BoR, Stone of Lahzwar and Aegis Aurora for my defense
Spoiler

I've always loved to play a defensive build that capable of pulling crazy dps when necessary. And I think the combo of those 3 and this build really fit my playstyle best

Why those 3 so good at defense?

Take a look at my stats:
Spoiler
Armor: 4209
Max ES: 395
Res: 75/80/75/-60
Block Chance: 71% (with Tempest Shield)
Spell Block: 36%
Block recovery increase: 40%
Block and Stun recovery increase: 52%

With that amount of Attack/Spell Block, I will Block most of the incoming damage which will result in:

ES recovery from Aegis Aurora: 4209*4% = 168 ES back per Block ! ! !
Endurance charges from Block with BoR: 4 charges with q15 Immortal Call = 5s Immortal Call ! ! !

And what if those two fail to protect me from the danger?

The crit from Hatred will freeze everything around me
And the Blind from BoR will make it impossible for me to get hit from attacks

How do I test if this combo really works?

I lure ALL types of mobs in Upper Sceptre of God then afk-kill them:
Voidbearer (fast spell hitting Infernal)
Undying Aristocrat (Bursty physical spell)
Undying Evangelist (Bursty physical spell)
Croaking Chimeral
Plumed Chimeral (Titty bitch-like attack)
Aurate Warrior (LoL attack)
Aurate Archer (LoL attack)

As you can see, these mobs seem to be the worst combination of fast/burst attack and I afk'd and watched them die while I stayed at full health and ES

So what types of mobs/damage u CAN and CAN'T block with Aegis Aurora?

CAN'T:
Spoiler
Degen effects cuz its not a spell and you cant block it (the fire ground effect from incinerator mobs or the RF rogue or Burned Miscreation - for example)
Chaos spell like the chaos-snake's attack can be blocked and regen ES but not the poison clouds
Burst damage is dangerous because it hit once, slow and hard (and you can only block once per attack. For example: Kole or the trappers in Ghetto/Villa map bosses )
These types of mobs should be the priority to Blind/kill

CAN:
Spoiler
Fast-hitting/casting mobs like dogs or chimeral - you like them cuz they'll keep you at full ES all the time
All other types of non-chaos mobs (I think)

My thoughts about the importance of the stats:
Spoiler
ES vs Health: I think 100 ES per 1000 Health is good enough, but the more ES the better :D
Block recovery increase is good for Aegis Aurora imo. The dogs killed themselves faster when I picked the 40% block recover passive and replace the belt with a 22% block/stun recovery. Btw, more block will result in faster Endurance/Power charges gained - 4 Endurance charges with Immortal Call will make it impossible for anything to touch us physically

My thoughts about the build:
Spoiler
Good in both defense and offense, you can easily switch gears for higher dps (change gloves/jewelries) or defense or simply the balance of those 2 (like me)
Nice all-in-one build ^_^
And thanks for the build of course ^_^

My plan on spending the remaining points up to lv 86:

Lv 93 75% block with high dps build (so high lv I think)

p/s: it would be much better if I could raise my Chaos res above 0%. And its worth buying this shield cuz it will double your chance to survive
Thats all I can think of for now, will write something else if possible

Hey Oos, firstly, I'd like to thank you for creating this build, been trying it out for some weeks now in domination and finally got to the point where i can clear anything in the game :). Here's my gear:

And passive tree( i abandoned the hp cluster on the bottom of the tree, because I am lv 83 atm and didnt have point for it, but it's my first priority now):

With crit dmg gem in BoR, I'm at 31k sheet dps, it goes up to 36 with conc. effect. I am using Aurseize because I like MF, and if I used Maligaros I would be too afraid of oneshotting myself. Do you have any tips in which direction I could further improve?
Edit: also with Maligaros, I would need to futher meddle with resists because I am barely capping them with help of Aurseize :) (ofc then running purity of elements is an option, but then I'd have problems running elemental weakness maps)

I just wanted to make an update with my Frenzy/Power charge version of this build. I got to around level 70 when I realized I had to waste to much passives on Mana nodes to have enough to sustain frenzy. And also that it was annoying to keep both frenzy and power charges up. All this to no great benefit. So I decided to spec out of frenzy and drop mana and some aura nodes to pick up more HP and damage. My passive tree is now much more like yours but I have a power charge and Eldrich Battery, which means I can run two 60% auras.

Now I link my reave to Power Charge on Crit and it seems to work out nice. I'm trying to save up some more currency to buy a better weapon with more crit, and my damage should really jump when I have that.

I also need more intelligence on my gear so I cant drop Primal Spirit and pick up Adder's Touch by level 85.

Wouldn't the Iron Reflexes version of the build be better of going into the Duelist tree instead of picking up the block nodes and Adder's Touch?

You would loose 2% block, but gain a lot of evasion ( cause evasion from dex doesn't count when going Iron Reflexes, so you need Ev% nodes ).

You would also pick up ias, quite a lot of dmg, another 1% lifereg ( so you could possibly run Bloodrage ) and 40% maxmana so you can run grace/hatred without absurd good managear.

Being Level 70 atm and with Aegis Aurora .. i feel quite invincible i must admit :D

I think you're doing well. Only thing that can really increace your damage is min-maxing your current gear. Like getting a replacement for your Topaz Ring with a phys damage roll, and using Maligaros. Other than that you're doing good, most of my sheet dps is from crit multi and that's scary vs reflect so I don't even run it (unless PvP).
You could possibly Divine your Bino's but that could take a lot to improve it.
Also, could you comment on how good the regen with Bino's is? I think that dagger is crazy and like hearing people's opinions on it.

As you go down to grab the HP nodes, you can get Fencing for a little DPS boost. Or even grab Flaying up top.

Glad you enjoy the build.

Interesting take on the build, shame you couldn't get enough mana regen for Frenzy :c it gets crazy expensive.
Your tree looks good, hopefully you can drop Primal Spirit soon. Maybe replace your Necklace with a HP/Leech/Crit on an INT base amulet. Then you really need a dagger with base crit chance, they really expensive now days but well worth the upgrade.

Everything else looks fine, let me know how it goes.
