A Beginner's Guide to Racing

"fixing" de-sync would likely require millions of dollars of servers. There is a reason this is a free game run by a team of 40 guys. You can't have everything you want friend.

Please fix desync. It ruins everything about the game. If desync is never fixed this game will never be successful, it will just be "that d2 clone with the horrible lag"

bull..

their netcode is paranoid-strict and it is netcode issue not server capacity/performance

f.. you can even desync in towns so spare us these theories mkay?

on topic - race rewards are just two:

Gifts from Above (ill try to get this one)
Divination Distilate (too much for me, i live in Europe and schedule it seems is not for us)

Auxium is unobtainable by anyone with real life so it is out

all other rewards are more than meh :/ hoped for something new - like pre-5/6Linked items or at least 4Linked crap items but it seems 'same old, same old' is strong with this one

btw queens decree and parendus rewards are just good jokes. Queens decree is the worst of summoner items and is worth more than 11alteration shards and 3alc shards if 6Linked. even my 5Link didnt sell for couple of chaoses.

Ugh, I really wish there were races starting in the "dead zone" time gap. I mean really 8pm-12am is when I play the most (central timezone), and only a couple races per weekin that time block... It is just disheartening. Why would they skimp on such a crucial time block for gaming. In reality there needs to be races at all times of day to allow any timezone to at least grab a few points. Looks like I will only be able to participate in a handful of weekday events and on the weekend races. =(

Good work!

So what are the chances of recieving some kind of points in any of the races for a 1st time casual gamer like myself. Whats an acceptable point target? 15 points? 300 points? etc. I did participate in one of the test races and enjoyed it so I'm just trying to get a feel for the races. If I'm not going to get any points, but complete the race, then I probably wont go long in the season.

As a casual gamer you can obtain around 20-50 points.

I agree with this. Although I can participate in several races, many of the most interesting ones seem to be either at 3:30pm (when I'm working) or 6:30pm (When I'm working out). There are some good ones at 9:30, but many timeslots seem to be severely lacking in events.

Correct usage of vendors and their recipes is very important for racers. Immediately check Tarkleigh for movement speed boots to gain a huge advantage if they're there. Coral Rings can sometimes be purchased from Nessa for a large survivability boost. Fighting Merveil requires a lot of Cold Resistance, so remember to check vendors for Sapphire Rings in the levels beforehand (they reset their inventory every level, so preemptively check them before you need the item). You can also use a vendor recipe to create a Sapphire Ring if urgently needed, so make sure you have an Iron Ring and blue Gem handy.

Never ever get the Quicksilver Flask. Best never ever get 3 of them because it's too similar to Phaserun and the devs kicked it because it sucked so hard for racing.....*irony*

Top racers stopped getting Saphire Rings for merv, they just learned the perfect distance not to be crit hit by Ice spears and the best timing to avoid sword strikes.

Well in turbo that strategy doesn't work.

The vedor receipe is also excellent if you play a mara or duelist.

We expect Season Five to be the most fun so far.

WTF? Imo it has the most boring shedule ever including prices only being worse in Season 1.
It has a more balanced setting than the last 2 seasons but it's still a crappy do or die shedule with a crappy F/C/S setting.
Can we finally get filled calendars like in Season 2 again and limit the amount of participations each week?

That would be amazing. And considering they themselves have said season 5 will have more people than any other season, race participation shouldn't be too much of an issue (Not to mention they could set race events to be cancelled if there's less than a certain amount of people).

If I join one race everyday, and do a medicore/not exeptional performance, at the end of the season, how many points do I have in total approximately?

Assuming 3 points per race (which is pretty easy) roughly 130 points.
