I don't like this at all. It should be included in the basic game.

I have no problem paying to add tabs but paying again to give them full functionality and convenience is just taking the piss.

You guys said you'd be monetizing cosmetic items, not forcing people to pay to have optimum convenience in inventory management.

At best, I'd begrudgingly pay a small one-time fee to enable this functionality but the idea of charging per tab just reeks of seedy nickle-and-diming.

You'll get great feedback from the majority of the beta testers but I don't expect this to go down well with the public at large.

I asked a few months ago if you could implement colored backgrounds for item rarity to make inventory management easier. Chris agreed that it would be implemented but not any time soon, which was fair enough... Now I'm wondering if you're gonna charge us for that functionality too?

When you plan your monetization I'm sure you're aware you tread a very thin line between having your customers feel like they're playing the game and making them feel like they're being played. This goes too far into the latter territory for my tastes.

As much as I want to take sides with the small indie dev, I have to agree with you on this one.

They're not forcing you to pay for anything. Isn't the whole point of these microtransactions to make things more convenient or interesting? If you play a decent amount you'll know which stash tab stores what anyway.

I hope the premium tabs can soon do more than that cuz it's so annoying to have a big collection of gems (they all look the same) and trying to find the skill you need. Always hovering over them is quite tedious.....

False statement. If I want optimum tab functionality I am now forced to pay for it, when it should really be part of the basic game.

As I understood it, the point of PoE's microtransactions was to give people cosmetic improvements, not improvements in UI functionality.

If the route GGG have now decided to take involves giving people a bare-bones client for free and forcing you to pay in order to unlock it's full functionality I won't be playing it for very long, if at all.

GGG have made a very poor decision. If they'd implemented tab-naming as part of the basic client it would benefit them more in the long term than forcing people to pay for it, simply because it would make the free game even better, and therefore more likely to retain players.

Which of these statements would sound better to a prospective player (for example a Diablo 3 player)?

1. "You should try PoE. Inventory management is so much better. You can even name your tabs, but you have to pay for it for each tab you want to have that functionality."

2. "You should try PoE. Inventory management is so much better. You can even name your tabs."

What this decision shows is that they aren't confident enough in their original plan to solely monetize cosmetic items so they've decided to force the player to pay for UI improvements as well. I don't see a lack of confidence in their business plan as particularly encouraging at this late stage of the game.

How about, "You should try PoE, the gameplay is excellent.".

D2classic is still being played today with its one 4x6 stash.
Here you are granted with four, that are massive and on top of that are SHARED across the account. Wow.

Well, as much as im impartial to the whole thing really, i do have to agree , it doesnt seem like a cosmetic thing, but a functionality thing. Perhaps there is some valid point to this.

When i envision spending extra money on the game, i envision it being for an Uber Male Ranger model, or shiny pink armor dye, or ... etc etc.

Cheers.

Here's one that never gets mentioned, mouse cursor.
