Explanation of some changes in 0.9.13h

I really hope that PoE servers and their security will be ready for OB.

personally, I really really really really really hate (under My Games\Path of Exile\



I know what I am doing with my computer, when I tell my computer I want to install e:\path of exile\ as the installation directory, I'd then expect/want/hope that screenshots would go there.


I know it's industry standard to put everything in my documents but... it's moronic! I've got like 481089410 million different folders which games want to save files to!


some games use c:\users\myname\ some games use c:\users\myname\saved games\ some games use c:\users\myname\my documents\ some games use c:\users\myname\my documents\my games\


there are probably others too, and from my standpoint this is 100% totally unacceptable. there is a reason that there is all this confusion, there's no law about where they have to go. the only one location every developer on the planet ever managed to agree on using was the installation directory (this is how things were in the 90s/early 00's somewhat).


the only place that could ever conceivably be a consensus would be the user selected installation directory.. there is simply no other possible consensus across all software all os all developers. they'd never agree on one.


please make it possible to edit the screenshot directory, or sensibly just make it the installation directory... yes users with UAC on won't be able to use that path, but that's a moronic feature anyway, and most people who have that feature on wouldn't have a clue where to find a file no matter where you put it!


possible compromise: if users do an express installation into the default program files directory then place their screenshots wherever you want, that won't effect me, I have no reason to mind...

if users select a custom directory during installation then put screenshots in there? or in there /screenshots/ with a subfolder or whatnot...


alternate compromise: default screenshot save location can be in my documents/my documents/my documents/screenshots/path of exile/games/screenshots/ for all I care as long as there is a way to change the path, either in-game or via an ini file...



I hope this doesn't sound too insane, but this is a pet peeve of mine. also yes I am aware of: C:\Users\my name\Documents\my games\Path of Exile\minimap\

and well everything I said about screenshots applies to the minimap and I'd love to be able to move it...


although in summation, I just use sym links to move everything back where it goes anyways, so maybe you don't need to consider accommodating me, but omfg, am I mad at microsoft for causing this mess!!!!

Anyway, the whole My Games/Path of Exile thing is stupid. Now i can't save screenshots, because my OS partition doesn't have the room. I have all my games installed on my D drive, i don't want shit saving to my C drive, ever.

All good changes, Chris. About OB, do we CB tester get a few hours of head start or we're just going to slam our head to the server all at the same time until it break?

CB members should get a 60 second headstart on OB so we can get on before the login server crashes.

Big changes. While the change in rare name trading makes me sad, it's definitely a needed fix.

@release date:
why don't you just finish everything to your satisfaction and think about the open beta date afterwards? you guys really need self inflicted pain to get this baby done after this looong development time?
you see open beta as a christmas present to the playerbase?
i could understand that argument.

on a related note: imho you really cant't learn in the short timeframe if the use of quicksilver flasks really is working in the player base in a 2 weeks timeframe left to christmas, do you?


i know ob brings the last wipe but what's your point of view when it comes to make changes to current gear and stuff (player property)in open beta?


@map drop rate:
i complained about it in the past as well. don't know if i just had lucky days but in the last couple of playtime hours i found more low level maps than i could possibly do. one time in a blue 10% quantity lvl61 map i found eve 6 others (range 60-62). i even vendored matching ones to get higher level maps. rng is weird sometimes.
