Like chris said, reflection improvement :P
Shiny
Forums are SOOO much fun on patch day!

Casuals play because it's fun, not to achieve any goal unreachable with their resources.
We are playing for the next difficulty, the next keystone, the next item upgrade.
Not to feel better than anyone else.
Even after Chris mentioned this, people keep asking if this affects performance, so I thought it would be good to quote it:

We were already doing a calculation of the specular reflection stuff so this isn't any slower!

So no worries folks, these improved reflections are not any slower than the old ones, which is nice to hear. I'm still using a dual-core system with only an nvidia GTS 250 and 3 gigs of system memory myself.
Looks like you added the reflection to the 2 handed mace! That looks impressive. Really glad you guys added this effect. I really dont care about graphics too much but I have always loved bloom effects and the idea of things looking wet.

I do agree with a few of the posts, gore splattered armor and weapons would add so much gratification to the gritty feel of cleaving through your enemies.

p.s.
I am so glad I bought the beta pack and was here to test this amazing aspiring game out.

Just as a quick-think: Would it be possible to tie the "old" version to 0% quality, the "new" version to 20% quality, and have it slide graphics-wise between those two extremes depending on how high the quality of your item is?

Cool idea! Reminds me of durability from D2. Could also be implemented for individual items using cosmetic shop or random drop currencies: Orb of Polish / Orb of Filth.
mmm, i will waste all 2500 on extra gore cosmetic effects. wet shiny blood..
+1 to the quality thing, though I'd also like there to be an option to turn this completely off for those that aren't running great PCs. I'd imagine there will be though, for specular types of things.

Actually yeah, specular reflection (Off topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Flq19SVFiGI) should be available to be turned off. I remember that it helped my framerate in Vindictus back when i was running a shitty graphics card.

I am all for this for some pieces of armor, but they aren't going to bedazzle every armor piece are they? Some pieces like the first helms you get and chest pieces really should have a rustic look to them in my eyes seeing as they are the crappiest of the crap gear you find on the ground. I think having a balance of rusty weapons and shiny ones adds a bit more realism to the game...

...Or maybe base how reflective a piece of armor is on its quality?

Just a thought :P
