Do you understand simple although subtle difference between "want to try new things" and "be forced to try new things"?

On one hand I love to try new builds, thats why I have many alts, on the other, I hate when something I worked on, finished and proved as working (and sometimes put on shelf just to collect) is invalidated and have to be reworked from scratch.

I have few alts, who are ready for new changes, because were build to use as little auras as possible, so I can just switch to play them, but still I'm disappointed that mechanism that I liked and that I used on some of my characters, vanishes.

That's precisely, why we need legacy skill trees.

It is hypocritical to go "Hey, we know you've worked so hard on your build so we won't reduce most of the stats of your items; you can instead keep those items as "Legacy items" :)" and then next moment go "lololol, so you worked hard on your build, but guess what? The game changes, we change it however we want, and if you are fcked over by the changes, then too bad, lololol.".

They got to pick side, they got to be consistent. Either Legacy for all or Legacy for none.

while I dont like legacy items. Asking for a legacy tree is ludicrous

Both a skill tree and an equip are both ways to improve the effectiviness of your character. The only difference is the presentation.

Edit: Which brings up an interesting question: at which point does a legacy version of a way to increase your effectiveness become ludicrous?

They should just bite the bullet and change the items.

But honest answer? It's likely because items are - in a sense - possessions, where skill trees are character/account locked. One per character.

edit: and if you're actually playing Path now I'll host maps for us on the weekend, hi!

This is a beta and expectations that things wont change is illogical.

If it was just presentation, it wouldn't matter, but these changes actually effect the game. So they would have to have separate systems for each legacy tree. This is not sustainable, much less maintainable.

why cant i trade standard stuff to the new leauges? That's the only thing that gives standard any use....Would have been nice to know this before I dismantled my character....

I completely fucking agree. All I do is praise GGG, but this is just fucking ridiculous.. ALl my shit in standard is just going to rot now.. At least before it had some value and a purpose. It's not like the first thing im going to do is trade currency as soon as I start new league. No, it will take some time and only when I absolute need some of it in order to buy a 20+ exalt item. Transferring currency between leagues is a damn hassle and no one feels like doing it. You have to take time to find someone you can trust, and even then, they might not have what you or him/her needs. This implementation is just going to make it that much harder and more of a hassle.. Why not tell us this when the ONS/ANA leagues ended instead of waiting? Now all the items I sold in preparation to trade some currency was for not.. Unreal... Really dropped the ball on this one, GGG. :/

btw: alpha has good times like just now and also bad times like just now. but that's secret :)

So you are saying that due to technical difficulties, they are able to allow legacy equips but not allow legacy skill trees?

Edit: That's an explanation I can buy: that they actually want both to have legacy versions, but due to technical limitations, they are only able to offer the legacy items.

I'm saying it is one possible reason. There are probably more that I am not aware of.
Seeing how none of us knows what their internal system structures are, it's really hard to say, but it would make sense. At some point you have to stop supporting legacy systems, Windows 3.x, 95, anyone?
