Blue Screen of Death with some sound cards

So does --softwareaudio ignore creative drivers and uses only windows audio? I currently have a surround sound set up, will using this have any effect on audio quality. My soundblaster x-fi titanium hd does a great job with other games and this is the only game where I have had significant issues.

softwareaudio does all the audio processing in the CPU, then only passes the fully rendered audio stream to the audio card for output. It doesn't take advantage of the on-board hardware to do transcoding and other things. This CAN make the game a little slower on some systems.

The reason for this is because Creative does not have support for the OGG format which GGG uses for their audio files (it's a new format that is quickly catching on and gaining traction in the community). In order for the hardware to transcode it, it needs better driver support for the OGG (vorbis) format.
I have had a terrible sound ever since some patch or the other.

When I first started PoE back in February this year the sound was ok however.

Now, in the last seven days or so I git BSOD several times. I thought it was something about my RAM components or the graphics card. Hopefully this will have sorted the problem out.

Let´s give it a try ;-)
The light at the end of the tunnel is nothing but a muzzleflash.
After I put the "--softwareaudio" line in the steam POE launcher it worked but I only have played about 3hrs on the steam version with the fix in place but so far no blue screen

I did the same in the beta but with the EXE and 40+ hrs with out a blue screen, so I hope the steam version will give me the same trouble free experience

Im using a SB fatality XFI win 7 64, 2600k, 2 x GTX 570 SLI, 12 GB ram

I have a FX-I and get the BSoD shortly after going to a new zone
I can make a new character, play till I get to the first hub, zone out into the new area, and BANG BSOD.

tried all the things you can add the the exe, tried to set it in steam via the launch option, made a shortcut direcly, bypassing steam, but no luck.

getting these dump messages

I am using an old Xfi Xtreme-Audio with Windows 8, getting occasional crashes with some .ogg encoding errors (usually during map changes).

Hope softwareaudio helps!
-swa worked good for me in steam
I don't use Steam.
"E:\Program Files\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Client.exe" --softwareaudio
using XP Pro does not work, 2 BSOD so far, second one was using WP from Solaris L2 to Docks which managed to put me into Default League :_(

I started back playing from being off for awhile and The Docks was a place where I had this issue before where it would crash when I tried to enter, I could hear some audio repeating as it crashed. But before it was not BSOD; since 1.00 release it has been BSOD and crash report being sent to MS.

SB X-Fi audio.
