I'm using the UK-London info from freevpnaccess.com. It's not super fast, about 350kbps is what I am topping out at currently but it's one hell of a lot faster then the 25Kbps average I was getting before.
*Edit: Also I have a wireless ISP and there are storms/weather in the area which affect my download speed as well. I usually patch from GGG at about 1Mbps when I install or patch one of my other computers.

As for the .ggpk file size of the torrent. I don't think it will actively go down because it is a sort of collection of all the previous data. There is however a tool that someone made that I believe was linked to by a GGG dev in this post that will go through and "defrag" the ggpk file and get rid of the unecessary content and helps with your load speeds. I know it shaved some file size off for me previously and I saw about a 30% load time increase. So I will probably run that program again after I download this patch and see what the new load times are with the new improvements. Might see what they are before I run it just to have a baseline after I patch.

I feel bad for the people getting all emotional and raging over the slow downloads, how empty does your life have to be or how deficient a personality, to rage at a company this small over download capacity ?

So you have to wait a few hours, nothing else in LIFE to keep you occupied ?

You can just set up your own vpn through windows network service if you're running windows.

The only way to do that would be to limit the number of downloads done at the same time. Meaning you might be one of the 2/3rd of people not allowed to download it first.

Popular game, that's releasing a patch that is supposedly fixing 90% of users main concerns (desynch, 32 bit OS, load times,) as well as doing many other things, and you complain.

People ask for stability fixes all day every day, you get them and can't play the game for a few hours once this year, and call it BS.

If you feel this is terrible, then offer to pay 1/10th of the likely $10,000+ server upgrade cost that would only be needed for 1 day. If not, then just wait. These guys can't drop millions like Blizzard, and that company still takes the game down for at least 8 hours a week.

@Chris/GGG - You guys need to look into your CDN. I don't know if they are really giving you more servers or not, but it has actually gotten SLOWER here since you last said you requested. As in, I've already downloaded more from this link than I had in 3 hours + 20 min from your CDN.
