Death Penalty Changes in 0.11.3
This is a step in the right direction, xp loss can be really discouraging especially right before a ding.
Hardcore feels like less of a punishment because of this(if that makes any sense), if you hit a content wall that you just can't get past because of inefficient passives or bad gear, xp loss just keeps you in place without teaching you anything. While hardcore forces you to do what you needed to do in the first place, rethink your strategy and passives and make a new character. |

GGG might as well let each person set their own XP penalty. The people complaining that they are making the game too easy can set it at 100% and the people that just want to have a fun relaxed time can set it anywhere that feels right to them. The minimum would have to be where GGG is setting it now though, to avoid unfair advantages in ladders.
Of course people will still complain...they love to impose their will on others and tell them what type of game play is enjoyable to them. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...

It seems like the biggest crybabies are the hardcore players that are totally unaffected by any of this. I ONLY play HC and I don't give a flying fuck about any of these changes nor should I.

Everyone has opinions and they should feel free to share them here. However passing judgment on other is neither appreciated nor welcome! The following are my opinions:
1. Path of Exile already has very steep learning curve, add to this the penalties and the average gamers attrition rates tend to soar. This is not the case for Hardcore as when a character dies everything is lost, the loss is total and abject and you start over again. Which is exactly what HC players want, and that distinguishes the wheat from the chaff! But this is not what Non-HC players want; these are the people who spend few minutes to a few hours in an entire week on the game and trust me this is the maximum time they can spend. When you play a game you want to have fun and enjoy. And for such people, Softcore exists, where they know they are not the best at the game but can still have relative amount of fun in the limited time they have. 2. The experience penalties are mandatory and cannot be totally abolished, as if they ever were, all characters will abuse the system and everyone will just have glass cannon build or take part in attrition warfare, which takes away everything from the game. 3. The same applies to logic of having “no experience penalties” in maps. See above for the reason. And also you will have 100’s of players at level 100, really, is that what you want? 4. This in no way affects hardcore players, so to the true hardcore gamers this change means nothing. If you see a hardcore gamer QQing here, it’s just because they are just average gamers and not true HC material. 5. Let’s get to some math and stats: a normal distribution of gamers will follow the Bell Curve, I hope everyone agrees?! So the HC gamers are already in HC leagues and if they die, they pay dearly for the deaths. The remaining players are semi-HC or SC, and Semi-HC are the ones who QQ the most. Because they are not good enough to just play HC and don’t want to get associated with SC entirely. These are the pseudo-elites who are the true and actual whiners. 6. Which brings me to the “Selection Bias”; as casual gamers tend to post less and fewer of them read forums on a regular basis, their numbers might look less but it again goes back to Bell Curve distribution. 7. To all the players (HC and SC) having a very difficult time coping with death and penalties: Consider macro-ing Alt+F4 to one of your mouse or keyboard keys. It doesn’t make you a better gamer if you hit escape and then click on the logout button separately (you still ran away from adversity!). It just makes you a dead gamer. Sure people abuse it to a certain extent but if it bothers you so much take a xanax and chill, there are players who multi-box and RMT, and you can’t do anything about it too. That breaks the game worse than a player who just wants to survive and not lose gear and penalty by Alt+F4ing. TL;DR: Stop QQ’ing about insignificant SC changes. If it bothers you that much, just play HC. |

Idc the death penatly i dont play non HC leagues. But i dislike the 6l allocation ;_; it is fun to run 1st to 6l and also man-mode melee characters have bigger chance for getting it cause they HAVE to be near danger, which is one of rewards(beside beeing MANLY AS F ront door) ;_; ;_; :^)

I don't like the 6s allocation. I like perm allo so that people aren't risking their lives to grab that unique drop in the middle of a group of mobs but the 6s added a thrill every so often when they drop, as soon as you see it everyone runs to pick it up and it felt rewarding to have snagged it up first. It also rewarded melee players risking their life in the middle of everything.

I don't get what all you people are whining about. The simple fact is, everyone always uses pre-made builds, usually from kripp or nugiyen or some other high profile streamer, so you don't have to worry too much. It's the people who actually want to learn how to play the game and learn the mechanics that suffer from something like this.
As someone who likes to make his own builds instead of copying others, I am totally fine with this change. However, I think they should go up a bit, to 5% and 10% respectively. IGN: Javascript
