Open Beta Supporter Packs

when you purchased a supporter pack in cb u got for $10 --> 100 coins, $25 --> 250 coins, $50 --> 500 coins... (so you always got the amount u paid x10 in game coins)

and now u get for $30 --> 200 coins, $50 --> 350 coins, $110 --> 800

why you get MUCH LESS coins now?

if i buy the basic point pack for $20 i get 200 coins. and for the open beta supporter pack i pay 10 bucks more ONLY for a pet and the soundtrack?!?! NO TY!

I want a FAIR AMOUNT OF GAME COINS for my money that i support you with
from 0.10.0 patch notes: "Fixed a bug where you could add Piety to your friends list." xD

You're actually generating 40 times as much gross revenue. After you return to the sort of baseline price, sales will actually be higher ... You're actually somehow increasing the demand for your product by running the sale."

Enough with the stinginess. Your goal is to encourage impulse buying. I have the full FEAR and Alan Wake series on Steam from last Christmas, and the THQ Humble Indie Bundle, and I haven't played any of those games - but they still have my money. Your method - the GGG method - has been to provide fractional, miserly discounts that encourage me to carefully mind my wallet and realise that I'm being screwed if I make a purchase. And I don't like being screwed.

It's 'b'. You don't get any advantage for upgrading through the packs in order other than getting to try the effects out and/or make smaller payments over time. It's completely safe to just buy an expensive one right away. Hint hint ;)

Honestly I dont see any problem with GGG trying to make money, its something that funds their game. Why does it matter if GGG are hugely successful if it has 0 effect on gameplay? If GGG didnt attempt to make money, there would be no game to play because it would be impossible for them to create it.

It is a different one, we already bought the points, more generous sales would make us spend those points sooner, not guaranteeing in any way that we will buy more. It would actually create the opposite situation where you acquire all the desired items from the cash shop sooner and have nothing more to buy.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Economics dictate that when goods are price elastic, decrease in price will increase revenue. When goods are price inelastic, increase in price will increase revenue.

Price inelastic goods are those that you simply cannot do without. These may range from basic food to cigarettes for some to alcohol for others to rent and so on. Stuff without close substitutes. It depends highly on the individual.

Price elastic goods are in most cases luxury goods. Something no one really "needs" but just "wants". POE microtransactions stuff would definitely be price elastic. That means that these sales are indeed the right way to go. However, how much you can actually drop the price and still realize an increase in revenue remains to be seen.

GGG should definitely try another sale of an item they already had on sale a few weeks back, this time with a more radical sale price. Correcting for the size of the player base should give an accurate representation on whether or not higher price cuts do bring more revenue.

tl;dr experiment with prices

Can we upgrade the current Open Beta support packs like we used to in CB?
For example i just bought Regal and thought that i can actually get the 110$ one by paying the 60 difference.
Maybe Im blind for not seeing the option or it will come with the change you mentioned above.

We're going to be adding upgrade options early next week. We want to support people upgrading and will make sure that it's possible and easy.

So if i spent already 50 dollars and would like to buy now an exalted pack should i just pay the difference in price?
Exalted pack minus 50 bucks ?
Much Love!

Once it's working, yes. There may be some small fixups related to packs giving different amounts of points.

Love it! I have a question in regards to the T-Shirts. How do we pick our size? Is there just a default size that is being shipped out?

We're sending out instructions for this as soon as we have it finalised!

You get points AND exclusive pets.

If you don't want the pet, then just buy the normal points. Other pets cost money too, I don't see why you should get points for every dollar and all the extra stuff for free. This isn't a charity
I should so close this site right now xD
Playing since 0.9.2g

I've paid $30 already into this game... do I get the open beta supporter pack retroactively or do I have to pay another $30 if I want it?

No, you don't. In order to be officially recognized as a "Supporter" you have to buy, even the cheapest Supporter Pack, regardless you like the content or not. Otherwise, you can spent hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of points, but you will not have any official recognition of that fact.

Closed Beta supporter packs are better value because:
  • They were supporting us when the game was much worse. We promised their packs would be better value for points.
  • The new packs have way more other stuff in them (Weapon Effects!)
  • We're trying to make sure the economics are correct so that the game benefits the most from people's support.
