why? because closed beta supporters were meant to be special, not fuc*** in the a***.
GGG told us multiple times that CB supporters were special. thats why people donated in first place.
now they offer basically the same stuff they offered in closed beta.
- a forum title, which make the CB titles pretty much be at the same pitch. the CB titles arent special any more. period.
- t-shirts ... nice, my CB t-shirt is also on the same level now. not special anymore.
- a pet. very nice. yes, i still have my kiwi and it is special, but nontheless renders the kiwi again somehwat at the same level. the flying roar is totally out of control. who wants a diamond kiwi now when you can have a flying roar? the diamond kiwi got rendered worthless when it was the non-plus-ultra pet. nice ggg.
but the biggest SLAP IN THE FACE are those two.
- their names in the credits. WTF GGG? W T F? ... the closed beta supporters were meant to be F**** special and had a chance to get into the credits, NOW EVERYBODY CAN? WTF?
- DESIGN a monster??? the closed beta guys could design an unique item, and the open beta supporters can design a MONSTER? whats so special about having been able to design an item in closed beta now??
this is absolutely a slap in the face and i am not supporting this AT ALL.
i will definately quit playing PoE now and tell all my friends to turn their backs against this game, because GGG is not able to deliver on promises ...
the next guys who will get a slap in their face in the near future are the open beta supporters when very soon will be announced new packs which will make all your donated money and the items you got pretty much worthless and not special anymore ...
I feel not slaped in the face at all. I still have my kiwi, and my poster, and my copy of the game and my Silver Supporter sign.
I'm actually excited. Now I can do it again, support the game and get something awesome.
Don't be mad bro. Things are cooler now because GGG is cooler now, that's all.
Ok since I didn't read a reply on my question I will repost it again.
For dual wielding reasons I currently own all weapon effects two times. Current rates are far too high to justify buying the same pack two times, just to get your complete dual wield weapon effect experience. As a courtesy will you be receiving the weapon effect two times this time?
My opinion:
Spoiler
I think this should already have been done, look up my customer perceived value post. The current format is a deal breaker to me. Either I can dual wield the effect or I won't be enticed to make a purchase. I am also disappointed that eventually these OB supporter beta packs have been made... since CB when I bought bronze and also when I supported the game further with 2x $50,- the continuous word from GGG has been that no further packs such as these would be made (this also enticed many CB supporters to upgrade).
At the time I thought: never say "never", but you guys did and as a result the CB supporter pack for some time felt like you really helped support the game. This somewhat got turned into: "just the kiwi pet + forum title." What is there to say there won't be holiday packs, or special month or season packs in the future? You should be far more open about this towards the customers.
For example will the weapon effects and pets be available in the shop, in the future, can you put it out black on white (upon purchase) that this will not happen? For someone who did not have too many issues buying weapon effects two times (though I am still of the opinion they should be sold in doubles as customer courtesy) this time I do feel somehow "shafted." I wonder why the supporter packs this also give the digital soundtrack, pet, forum title and points? If it would be different like: key-chain, Rhoa plushie, helmet effect, weapon effect... it would be more cool, but this is pretty much like the CB supporter packs... better. Which makes me feel that despite supporting the game, my previous supports (bronze and 2x 50,-) are being somewhat trivialized.
Just my two cents and I survived the daily deals without any fuzz. The need to buy weapon effects two times... done that, though I did make some feedback on it (decent). However this time I feel unhappy and my only guess is that I don't like what this means for the CB supporter packs, at least in my image.

I have one question : do you plan to implement the possibility to bound specific pet with our characters ? In fact I tend to like only 1 specific pet by character and i find that is a little tedious to have to recall them each time i log on a different character.
Thank you for the game and your economic model choice !
Like with item effect that can probably be done on a non effect item ? (belt?)

In general for mtx I don't care but here however, being that it's one per much larger purchase, I agree it should give 2 effects for dual wielding.

I think ill buy a pack anyway... but as a dual wielding player it sucks to use one HUGE weapon effect like this and on the other weapon none or just a lavender or something like that.. and that looks shitty :P
- a forum title, which make the CB titles pretty much be at the same pitch. the CB titles arent special any more. period.
When I saw the new supporter packs and I looked at my ancient bronze supporter title I felt even more superior and elitist. It felt good.
I'm just gonna quote this cause I don't want wall of text version. We still have our titles and pets and bs. And we supported as, you know, support, for a game we wanted to see succeed. If you truly pay just for the fluff/title and nothing else well... what sort of supporter are you anyway.
I don't regret a bit, I was looking forward to new packs, and judging by the amount of CB people buying new packs I'm far from alone.
My question for Chris would be, is it intentional that price per reward point (for those that don't want the special packs) is not as good as it used to be? And if so, might we expect this trend to continue, perhaps in several months time when the pack offerings are changed again?
The question is already answered one or two posts above yours:))

Chris' reply had not been posted when I began to compose my message, but it was visible by the time I previewed and posted mine. Neverthless, Chris didn't state whether this is an offer that is only available to those that had previously bought-in, or if it is a non-publicised offer that will be available to all for the forseeable future. I asked an additional question (that you included in your quote) that is also still open.
Let's compare two offers at the $250ish level.
Old deal: $250 for 2850 points.
New deal: $270 for 2000 points and a bunch of stuff that doesn't interest me.
As far as GGG are concerned, if someone buys the "old" $250 pack, GGG receive all of that money (ignoring transaction fees). If someone buys the new pack, GGG have an additional cost relating to the physical stuff - keyring, poster, T-shirts. The buyer is effectively sacrificing 850 points for this stuff, and GGG are incurring an additional cost relating to the provision of the physical stuff. I assume it costs more than $20 for 2 T-shirts, a keyring and international postage. So it looks to me that GGG may be better off selling points-only packs, and it seems odd to me that the higher level points packs have disappeared from the store. If they were still there, wouldn't they benefit more?
Credit card fee penalties are deferred onto your customers.
You never, ever defer these onto people who are giving you money.
All businesses pass the credit card fees onto the customer. Some are better at hiding it, but at this point in time, the 2-4+% charge is built into the "costs" of the item. It may not be a line item cost, but is part of the overall pricing structure. It's like property taxes. Should people buying supporter packs be paying for the property taxes on GGG's offices? As those costs are part of what keeps GGG operating, than yes, those taxes will be included in the pricing structure.

Secondly - tab bundles.
I wouldn't mind seeing an occasional premium stash tab bundle

You are against the concept of pay-to-win. Tabs individually cost $3 - quite a lot, considering what you get - and can go as low as $2. A bundle of 6 tabs is $15, so you get one for free. There are no higher collections of tabs - it's a bundle of 6 at most, there are no discounts for buying more since there are no bigger bundles than that. 6 tabs on sale is $12, and your proposed tab bundle sale for 6 tabs is... also $12. I don't feel any incentive to get a good deal there, because it's the same as buying 6 tabs on sale, except I'm not forced to buy in multiples of 6. Tabs are still expensive, especially when one can make more accounts for free space.

Finally, since my tightly-bottled vitriol is running out - sales in general. These are miserly. I have this thread documenting every daily sale since May 1st. Take a leaf out of Valve's book and don't be afraid to put some of the more expensive stuff on sale for ~60% off. From an interview with Gabe Newell:
"
"When you're selling a product directly online, though, and you drop the price by 75 percent, you'll actually increase your total gross revenue by a factor of 40. You're actually generating 40 times as much gross revenue. After you return to the sort of baseline price, sales will actually be higher ... You're actually somehow increasing the demand for your product by running the sale."
75% is an end of line clearance price to get rid of something whose physical presence is actually costing you money to keep it in possession. WIth a markup of 50% the margin on most products ends up being 30%.
Obviously, GGG isn't dealing with physical merchandise, but they do have overhead costs and some of the things, like the afore mentioned stash tabs do take up server space and add to long term operating costs.
When you run huge sales with any regular frequency, you can dig a very deep hole for your company. Its like selling pizzas, where almost no one will buy the product without a coupon or sale.
As for the high end priced items, if they will go down to 60% or 75% off, then they will lose some of their semi-exclusivity, which is part of their initial appeal to some players.

Enough with the stinginess. Your goal is to encourage impulse buying.
Actually, the goal for GGG should be to build long term customer loyalty. The payoff for that is far greater than impulse buying will ever be. That's the reason companies spend so much on brand awareness in advertising.
As a quick example - imagine that GGG did exactly what you asked for on the sale pricing - *except* that you had just found out that Blizzard bought them out, and Bobby Kotick was going to be revamping their gaming model. How interested would you be in staying with and supporting POE then?
Along those same lines, GGG could recognize frequent small bundle purchasers with some sort of bonus deal.
Credit card costs can be a significant factor, and negotiating better rates usually requires a large enough account to make it worth it to the card servicing/banking company. That's why a lot of businesses don't take certain cards.
TLDR version - GGG is just trying to keep the lights on and the employees employed so they can keep improving the game. If you've seen any GGG office pictures, you know they aren't wasting money on frills like fancy monitor stands.
