Item Allocation Specifics

I love it. I prefer FFA but these changes will make many people happy.

You know what happened in FFA parties of old? 3-4 ppl crowding around a named item that the named player didn't notice. So just 2 ppl were actually killing mobs etc. With this loot tension, you get ppl charging for their items and the killing stops, even when there is a huge pack of mobs. Eg how many times I see my item on the ground but its not safe to loot because there are tuns of mobs around. Then I end up losing that item because someone else picks it up after the timer expire.

Great example of the dynamic gameplay with battlefield conditions actually changing and a risk/reward system I was talking about in a previous post, thanks. How is this not more fun and engaging than just standing and waiting for the screen to be cleared?

Because what is fun is a matter of opinion.

Some find no loot tension fun, no ninja looting.

Some find loot tension fun, FFA ninja looting by everyone.

Some find it fun having the only option be that those who don't like to ninja be grouped with them who do, making it a bit one sided in the fun department.

One group looses out with these changes, they still have the option where they can ninja, but it is with people who will also ninja them.

Tough tittie, imo.
Casually casual.

Not instanced loot yet:(

They even go this far and still casuals cry. Just go back to D3, honestly. Please Chris, never do this, don't change the loot system ever again to please these 14yr olds, it's as close to instanced loot as it ever should be.

To please 14 year olds? Are you for real? Why do you think the game is so barren? FFA is trash to most of us.

FFA also sucks because of that question of who did that rare belong to? Especially when someone in the party is running mf and 6 rares drop to one person and they didn't have enough time to see which rares belonged to them. For those of us that like to play honorably, and not like ninjas or scoundrels, these new rules are a salvation in giving us a reason to party with strangers and friends alike :P

To the one who picks it up, it's not that hard.

There are no ninjas.
FFA means FFA not "that's mine, don't take it"

Also instanced loot is shit. Games like D3 and Gw2 were fucking boring because it was pandering to hard to casuals. Living in a ghost world where other players effects are null is boring as heck, then you can just play solo.

I play solo because I don't wanna play with other people. I want my items for myself. I want to beat a monster by myself. I don't wanna compete with other people while playing.

These new loot options neither make me play more nor less party.

There are only 2 people who care:
A) Casuals who can't into old school gaming.
and
B) Elitist who bitch about anything that goes against old school gaming.

I like the idea, will the options be visible at the parties baord ?

Please 1 annoucement per day! We love that.

Well, the implementation of FFA is pretty damn stupid since it will put ranged in a disadvantage that they can never overcome, especially not in HC since you will not want to risk your life to potentionally pick up an item.

And since youre going to buff melees most groups will probably want to run that kind of loot system, so ranged characters literally are fucked.

Choices are nice, but a full FFA system in a game like this is rather counter productive if you ask me.

That's funny, because an auction house is just the final step in the flawed game design that is free-trade loot in modern day communication.

We'll have so called HC gamers using AH as some sort of stigma attached to casual gamers.
All the while buying every piece of gear they own, spamming trade chat, using trade forum, using D2jsp, shouting for better trade tools, contributing to the gutting of the core of loot-find games with their path of least resistance, as powerful as possible as soon as possible 'HC' needs, but oh no!!! Not an AH!!!

Of course an AH is bad for the genre, but the damage is done 99% without it.
Casually casual.

I dont get it Chris, you guys from GGG made almost everything right, but why isnt every map "map to maker"?
No one, who joins a party, goes there with the intention to increase his map pool. If he gets a map drop, he thinks "oh, cool, I got a map, I wont give it to him" but thats it. If a map gets stolen from maker, he will just have a bad mood, randomly kick someone if he dont know who it was, and stop playing after the map is cleared.

We, as a maker, cant think any reason to let someone who joins the party get a map. We use so many currency on those maps, those people who join dont use anything, they can buy twice as much maps with the currency we spend on maps..

Well, I stopped playing in public parties over a month ago because of the loot and map2maker system (many maps got stolen from me), I would play again in public but this definitly makes it a no-go for me as a map-maker..

I kinda agree, the AH wasn't the problem in D3. Soulbound could have already prevented the most damage it did.

On the other hand it kinda defeated the purpose of the excitement of finding something nice yourself.

I rarely buy in PoE. Not because it's so terrible, but because I rather find my stuff alone.
