Australian Test Gateway Feedback (Updated)
Only just discovered the Australian gateway and about to run some maps to test it out during actual game play. Sitting in town i'm getting 30-50ms. I have to say that as a mature gamer, playing games for some 20 years and never seeing under 200ms, that its quite amazing how massive a difference this ping makes to even little things like moving items in your inventory and buying/selling at the vendor. Everything is instant and happens the moment you click the button. Really looking forward to doing some maps.
I Never thought id see this kind of ping in AU and i have to thank GGG for putting in the effort to make a game for us in AU/NZ the best it can be, hope it keeps up. As a final note, I had made a decision after D3 that i would no longer support game companies who don't support they're players, and that certain companies would not see another cent of my money, nor would i ever recommend their products. GGG however has my full support. Great job on the game so far. Melbourne, on Telstra wireless. 30-50ms |

WOW !!!
The singapore gateway was finally dropped back to 160ish I guess the cable was repaired, I thought that was godly. Untill now, I just found out about the Australian Gate way. OMG! 15-17ms here, Using TPG from Sydney. (its 3 am here, So I guess I have check again when its our peak time) SO this is how it feels to play an online game!!! Thank you so so much for even considering about an AU gateway, let alone testing one. I feel like crying. even though I am no longer activly playing POE, but you can count me in for the open beta supporter pack. Last edited by Eyesonme#1041 on May 20, 2013, 1:02:00 PM

Just got another crash and rollback, so the server is definitely broken again.

13~31 ms ping!
Thank you so much GGG for acknowledging that service to Australians and New Zealanders is something worthwhile. I feel like you have just proven our worth to all the game developers that refused to have a server down under. (I'm looking at you Blizzard) I'll support GGG with micro-transactions as soon as I find a new job. Thank you again! |

Just went on through the Australia gateway. Went into a 6 person party farming docks was getting 350-360ms. Was a bit disappointed.
However I went back on via the Singapore straight after in a 6 person party in Barracks. The Latency was all over the place anywhere from 350 to 650ms. It was pretty much unplayable. Vodaphone Wellington cable, Wireless router. |

" Are you sure you were still on the Aussie gateway? AFAIK the way parties work, whoever creates the party - that instance is created on the server they're connected to. Everyone who joins that party afterwards will be playing on that server - it sounds like that first party was on an american server. |

" This. The server doesn't respond to races very well. IGN TDA

" The second time i went through the Singapore gateway. The first time I know I went through the Australian gateway. anyway you're probably right about the party latency. I'm on now I tried first with the Australian Gateway. 40-110 ms. It even spiked to 170 quiet a bit. I went back on via the Singapore Gateway and was getting 230-300ms. For both tests it was single player Docks merciless. In practical terms it didn't "feel" that different. In fact moving the character and other actions felt very 'jerky' through the Australian gateway. It seems to me that the 70ms difference via Singapore registers less in practical terms because its so slow anyway. While via Australia because its a lot quicker the spikes are more noticeable, hence the jerkier feeling of movement. Anyway I'll get used to the Aussie gateway. " That has been my experience as well. That or whoever creates the instance. It's a good excuse for Kiwis and Aussies to game together. :) https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
